President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday night that he has selected Linda McMahon to serve as secretary of the Department of Education in his new Cabinet. The position requires Senate confirmation.

McMahon previously held the role of administrator of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term.
Trump said that McMahon will leverage her leadership experience and expertise in both education and business to empower the next generation of American students and workers, and “make America Number One in Education in the World.”
“We will send Education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort,” he said in a statement posted on Truth Social.
McMahon is currently co-chair of Trump’s transition team.
