(TJV NEWS) A violent rampage inside Grand Central Terminal left three people injured Saturday morning after a man armed with a machete carried out a series of random attacks before being shot by police, according to PIX11.
The chaos began around mid-morning when the suspect entered the subway system and launched an unprovoked assault on commuters. PIX11 reports the man used a large blade—described as a machete—to slash multiple victims across different platforms inside the busy transit hub.

Authorities say the first victim, an elderly man, was attacked on the 7 train platform, suffering severe cuts to the head and face. The suspect then moved deeper into the station, where he targeted two more people on the 4, 5, and 6 line platform. A second man was slashed in the head and suffered serious injuries, including a skull fracture, while a woman was cut in the shoulder.
All three victims—an 80-plus-year-old man, a 60s-aged man, and a woman around 70—were rushed to nearby hospitals. PIX11 reports that despite the brutality of the attack, all are expected to survive.
Police were alerted after witnesses flagged down officers inside the station. When NYPD officers confronted the suspect, he was still holding the machete and behaving erratically. Authorities say officers repeatedly ordered him to drop the weapon, issuing more than a dozen commands while attempting to de-escalate the situation.
PIX11 reports those efforts failed. The suspect refused to comply and instead advanced toward officers with the blade still in hand. At that point, one officer opened fire, striking the attacker and bringing the violent spree to an end.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The incident caused widespread panic inside one of New York City’s busiest transit hubs, with commuters fleeing the platforms as police flooded the area. Subway service through Grand Central was severely disrupted, with multiple خطوط temporarily bypassing the station as investigators secured the scene.
PIX11 reports the attack is being treated as random, and authorities have not indicated any connection between the suspect and the victims.
Officials say the entire encounter, including the police shooting, was captured on body cameras and will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
