The Burj Khalifa, known as the Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration in 2010, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a total height of 829.8 m (appx. 2722 feet) and a roof height of 828 m, the Burj Khalifa has been the tallest structure and building in the world since its topping out in 2009.
IT is now going to be home to the first Kosher restaurant in the UAE.
Following the United Arab Emirates’ signing of a normalization accord with Israel last Tuesday, the UAE’s first-ever certified kosher restaurant has opened on the ground floor of the luxury Armani Hotel, situated in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Times of Israel reported.
The restaurant, Armani/Kaf, is certified Glatt kosher under the supervision of Rabbi Levi Duchman, the UAE’s Chabad rabbi.
The National of the UAE reported: The 40-seat dinner option is on the ground floor of the luxury hotel, adjacent to Armani/Hashi, the hotel’s Japanese restaurant. The interiors will be in line with the luxury Armani aesthetic, with views of the Dubai Fountain and Downtown Dubai.
The restaurant specializes in kosher cuisine that complies with kashrut – Jewish dietary laws. It will operate under the rabbinical supervision of Rabbi Levi Y Duchman, who has given it Glatt Kosher and Pas Yisroel certifications from the Emirates Kosher Supervising Agency, the only kosher certifier in the UAE, the hotel said.
Times of Israel pointed out that the restaurant is not the UAE’s first kosher food business — that title belongs to Elli’s Kosher Kitchen, a catering business owned by Elli Kriel, wife of the president of the Jewish Council of the Emirates, Ross Kriel.
In early September, America’s Orthodox Union said it will be the leading kosher certification agency in the United Arab Emirates. Orthodox Union Kosher, which the group says is the world’s largest kosher certification body, will oversee the implementation of the dietary regulations in partnership with the UAE’s local Jewish community, Times of Israel explained
The new restaurant also offers guests of the hotel kosher in-room dining. Armani/Kaf is closed to dine-in guests on Fridays, but offers a special takeaway menu for Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath
The National stated: The menu aims to celebrate the best of kosher cuisine while also paying homage to flavors from around the world. Guests can expect dishes such as challah, the classic braided bread, as well as braised beef brisket.
