The Times of Israel reported that multiple rockets were fired toward Israeli communities in the north, though there were no immediate reports of injuries. The attack marked another breach of a fragile truce that has been repeatedly tested by cross-border fire in recent days.
In response, the Israeli military said it carried out strikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, targeting operatives and infrastructure it described as posing an imminent threat to Israeli troops. According to the report, several militants were killed in the Israeli response.
The flare-up comes as tensions remain high despite diplomatic efforts to extend the ceasefire. A recent extension, brokered with U.S. involvement, has done little to stop intermittent exchanges of fire between the two sides.
The Times of Israel noted that the latest rocket barrage was part of a pattern of continued hostilities, with Hezbollah periodically launching attacks and Israel responding with airstrikes aimed at preventing further escalation.
Israeli officials have maintained that any threat to troops or civilians will be met with force, even under a ceasefire framework, while Hezbollah has accused Israel of violating truce terms—underscoring the deep mistrust between the sides.
The ongoing clashes illustrate how tenuous the ceasefire remains, with both sides continuing military actions that risk spiraling into a broader confrontation.
