Trump Supporters Fire Back at Biden’s ‘Garbage’ Remark: ‘We’ll Take Out the Trash on Nov. 5’”

Edited by: Fern Sidman

At the ebullient Madison Square Garden rally held on Sunday for former President Donald Trump, his supporters expressed renewed enthusiasm despite, or perhaps inspired by, President Joe Biden’s remarks branding Trump voters as “garbage.” According to a report on Wednesday in The New York Post, Biden’s statement, which was initially directed toward the rally’s rhetoric, was quickly clarified by the White House as referring specifically to “hateful rhetoric” at the event. White House spokesperson Andrew Bates issued a statement on Tuesday evening, noting that the President’s comments were aimed at condemning specific divisive remarks made at the gathering rather than Trump supporters at large.

However, Biden’s comments did not go over well among Trump supporters. Many attendees at the rally felt the comments were disparaging to Trump’s base as a whole. Remy Barron, a Trump supporter from Queens who attended the rally, viewed Biden’s words as yet another attempt by Democrats to vilify Trump’s supporters. “We don’t care about all the garbage the Democrats say about President Trump. We’re going in the wrong direction and he’s the man for the situation,” Barron told The New York Post. He emphasized that, despite Biden’s words, he felt strongly aligned with Trump, describing himself as “a 45-year-old educated, healthy black man” who is committed to Trump’s vision.

During the rally, comedian and podcast host Tony Hinchcliffe sparked additional controversy by referring to Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage,” a remark that drew sharp criticism and was condemned by some as racist. Hinchcliffe’s comments were quickly denounced by left-leaning media, with some comparisons made between the rally and far-right or extremist gatherings.

For Trump supporters such as Barron, Biden’s remarks have only reinforced their determination to cast their votes in the upcoming election. With accusations of divisive language from both parties, Trump supporters seem intent on translating their frustrations into electoral support. As The New York Post reported, many attendees are choosing to “save their outrage for the ballot box,” highlighting a sense of resilience within Trump’s base amid the controversy.

At a recent Trump rally in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, attendees shared strong reactions to President Biden’s recent comments that characterized Trump supporters as “garbage.” Many supporters present at the rally expressed their disapproval of Biden’s remarks, emphasizing their resolve to remain committed to their candidate and their values, as reported by The New York Post.

Dorothea Ohlandt, a 59-year-old Trump supporter from North Carolina, told The Post that Biden’s comments only reinforce her faith-driven approach to politics. “All I can say is Biden needs Jesus,” she said, adding, “Christians don’t call people names.” Ohlandt, attending the rally with her husband Billy, affirmed her unwavering support for Trump and noted she would “continue to pray” for Biden rather than take the remarks personally.

Chris Connelly, a 47-year-old business owner from Bergen County, New Jersey, pointed out the difference in accountability he feels should exist between a comedian and a sitting president. “It’s one thing for a comedian to make a bad joke… but it’s another thing for someone who’s not a comedian, but is the President of the United States, to say it about half of the country,” Connelly told The New York Post. Connelly, who arrived at Madison Square Garden with his teenage son, Will, was unable to enter due to the crowd size but remarked that the energy outside “was like a rock concert.”

For Sergio Gor, CEO of Right for America, Biden’s remarks represent a broader problem of disrespect from the current administration. “The disdain we have seen out of this White House is unparalleled,” he stated, lamenting what he perceives as a lack of strong condemnation from Vice President Harris. Gor’s remarks, as noted by The New York Post, reflect frustration among some Trump supporters who feel the administration has been dismissive of conservative voices.

The Post also reported that Kristina Konrad, a 31-year-old copywriter from Long Island, was equally critical. “It’s not surprising with the things he’s said over the last four years about us,” she said, calling the rally “one of the best events I’ve ever been to.” Konrad shared her view that Biden’s approach reflects a lack of policy direction, stating, “I think they have nothing else to run on…so the best they can do is resort to calling patriotic people who want to see America thrive ‘garbage.’” She expressed confidence that Trump supporters would “take out the trash on Nov. 5” when they cast their ballots, adding to the sense of resolve seen throughout the event.

The New York Post highlighted that while Biden’s remarks have sparked backlash, they appear to have strengthened Trump supporters’ dedication as Election Day approaches, with many taking the comments as motivation to show their support at the polls. The rally, which featured impassioned speeches and a fervent crowd, underscored the determination among Trump’s base to remain undeterred by criticism from the opposing side.
