On Tuesday evening, Palestinian terrorists launched a rocket from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli territory, the Israeli military said, as was reported by World Israel News.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

An official statement from the IDF indicated that “a warning was activated in the Ashkelon industrial zone and in Kibbutz Zikim.”

Tensions have risen in recent weeks between Israel and Hamas, the Islamic terror group that has ruled Gaza since 2007. Balloons launched across the frontier by Hamas-affiliated groups have set farmland ablaze, prompting retaliatory strikes by Israel.

WIN reported that Hamas is demanding, through Egyptian and Qatari mediators, that Israel take steps to ease a blockade it imposed when the terrorists seized control from rival Palestinian forces in a bloody coup in 2007.

On Monday, Egyptian mediators were in Gaza in an effort to reduce tensions and prevent another large-scale conflict between Israel and Hamas, which have fought three wars and several smaller battles since 2007.

They departed without announcing any agreement.

TPS reported that Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets on Monday night attacked Hamas underground infrastructure in the Gaza Strip in response to the arson and explosive balloons launched by Gazan terrorists into Israeli territory during the day.

This was the seventh IDF attack in the Strip in recent days that was carried out in response to the arson balloon attacks.

After months of relative quiet, terrorists in the Gaza Strip have relaunched their campaign to send balloons tied to flammable materials and explosive charges into communities in the vicinity of the Strip.

The arson attacks have ignited fires, but no one was injured in the attacks and no damage to property was caused.

On Monday, firefighters worked to extinguish 19 fires, including an outdoor fire in a kindergarten yard in the city of Sderot. The fires were in the area of Eshkol Regional Council and Sha’ar Hanegev.

Environmental experts say it will take at least 15 years to rehabilitate the vegetation and wildlife that have been destroyed.
