The White House on Wednesday sharply criticized former Fox News host Tucker Carlson following an inflammatory interview in which he made a series of accusations against Israel.

According to Israel’s Channel 13 News, the Trump administration responded to Carlson’s remarks in unusually blunt terms, calling him “a low-IQ individual who spreads fake news for cheap publicity.”

The statement added that “long before he was elected, President Donald Trump was consistent in his belief that Iran must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons,” and praised Israel as “a great ally of the United States,” particularly during joint operations against Iran.

The response came after Carlson’s interview with Channel 13 anchor Udi Segal, which aired Tuesday night and drew backlash over his comments on Israel and the war in Gaza.

At one point, Carlson objected to Segal’s use of the phrase “Iran terror regime.”

“As an Israeli, you should pause before using the phrase ‘terror regime,’ since you live in a country that just murdered thousands of children in Gaza,” Carlson said. “We should all pull back a little bit on the rhetoric like that.”

Segal also played a clip from Carlson’s podcast in which he described Israel as “probably the most violent country in the world.”

When challenged, Carlson stood by the claim, adding that “no country has boasted more about killing its political opponents than Israel,” appearing to reference Israeli operations targeting Hezbollah leaders, including the 2024 exploding pager attacks against Hezbollah terrorists.

Carlson further criticized U.S. support for Israel, saying, “There’s no reason the United States should be sending any money at all to Israel, and particularly not to its military.”

He also accused Israel of killing “thousands of children in Gaza,” calling it “wrong” and describing it as “a crime, a sin, an atrocity,” while disputing whether the term genocide applies.

The interview is just the latest in a pattern of anti-Israel rhetoric from Carlson, who has frequently attacked Israeli policy and questioned U.S. aid.
