(TJV NEWS) A newly released batch of Epstein files has thrust former White House Counsel Kathy Ruemmler into renewed focus, following the disclosure of a previously unseen email exchange between her and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

As WION reported, the tranche of documents made public on January 30 includes a thread in which Epstein appears to seek Ruemmler’s advice about how to handle an unverified sexual assault allegation involving Donald Trump. In the emails, Epstein claims an underage woman—referred to cryptically as “=C2”—was accusing Trump of rape stemming from an alleged sexual relationship in 1993. No corroborating evidence for the claim is presented in the exchange.

According to the correspondence, Epstein told Ruemmler that the woman allegedly had a witness and that an individual identified as “Pottinger” was attempting to press the matter by seeking out someone named “ma=giver,” using what appears to be coded or garbled language. Epstein described the situation as escalating despite his advice that no meeting should take place.

“Two weeks ago, ma=giver said that Pottinger wanted to meet him. I emailed back DO NOT meet. You are not involved,” Epstein wrote. He then claimed that Pottinger later forced his way into ma=giver’s office to repeat the allegations, prompting what Epstein described as an annoyed reaction.

The allegation is just one of many controversial claims surfacing in the latest release of Epstein-related emails. In the same thread, Epstein speculates that Trump could eventually be questioned about him and asks Ruemmler how he should respond if that were to happen. Ruemmler’s reply, however, offers little clarity on her position.

“I knew Epstein professionally and always had positive dealings with him,” she wrote. “I don’t know anything about his personal legal issues other than what I have read in public reports, and therefore don’t have any comment.”

The context of the response remains ambiguous, with no clear indication of whether Ruemmler was offering legal guidance, distancing herself, or simply declining to engage.

As WION noted, the email exchange has renewed scrutiny of Ruemmler’s past relationship with Epstein. Ruemmler served as White House Counsel under former President Barack Obama from 2014 to 2015 and previously held senior roles at the Department of Justice. After leaving government, she became general counsel at Goldman Sachs.

DOJ records indicate that Ruemmler and Epstein had direct personal contact from at least 2014 through April 2019—just two months before Epstein’s arrest. Her name appears in at least 19 separate files within the document dump, and the emails suggest the two met on multiple occasions. Some correspondence references Epstein arranging or providing gifts and favors, including travel, electronics, and personal services.

The revelations come amid heightened public interest in the Epstein files, which have sparked fresh controversy by reviving long-dormant accusations and exposing the extent of Epstein’s connections with powerful political and legal figures.
