(TJV NEWS) Dutch populist politician Geert Wilders has suspended his campaign for upcoming elections later this month after authorities warned him of a potential assassination threat, Zero Hedge reported.

The warning comes in the wake of heightened concerns over politically motivated attacks following the Charlie Kirk assassination in the United States last month.

Wilders, frequently labeled by the media as “far-right,” was informed that he could be a target of a suspected plot in Belgium involving a drone equipped with explosives aimed at conservative politicians. Three men were arrested in Antwerp in connection with the foiled attack, which prosecutors say was primarily intended to target Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever.

Following a briefing from authorities, Wilders said, “The NCTV does not foresee any ‘residual threat,’ but I have a bad feeling and I am therefore suspending all my campaign activities for the time being.” Police raids in Antwerp recovered a homemade bomb, shrapnel, and materials intended to construct an explosive-laden drone.

Belgian prosecutors described the investigation as related to “attempted terrorist murder and participation in the activities of a terrorist group,” though they did not identify the potential targets. Government ministers, however, confirmed that De Wever was one of the intended victims. Wilders also shared on X that he and Els van Doesburg, De Wever’s successor as mayor of Antwerp, were on the suspects’ hit list. All three are right-wing politicians.

Wilders, founder and leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV), has long taken an outspoken stance against mass migration and radical Islamist ideology, prompting increased security and police protection dating back to 2004. The Dutch Justice Minister, Foort van Oosten, confirmed on X that the counterterrorism office had been ordered to “do everything necessary to enable Mr. Wilders to resume his work as soon as he wishes.”

Wilders had already canceled a planned radio debate after being directly notified of the threat by the Dutch intelligence agency NCTV. Belgian prosecutors described the arrested suspects as Islamic radicals, noting their intention was to carry out a “jihadi-inspired terrorist attack targeting politicians.”

  1. The Netherlands like France, Britain and others in Western Europe have literally given up on themselves. Globalist all, like the Democrats in the USA have bizarrely made an indelible deal with the Islamic Devil and they will go hand in hand with every Islamist on every issue and on every decision. It’s probably too late to ever expect anything else from them.
