Even Billy Joel, who owns multiple properties in Florida, has chosen to sell his Centre Island estate. This migration is attributed to factors like better weather, cost savings, and an opportunity for a quieter lifestyle.

Maxwell, who has been closely associated with Centre Island’s real estate landscape, sees the village as an appealing alternative to the Hamptons. She suggests that those seeking a more serene environment without the need to venture too far could find Centre Island an attractive option. While residents need to drive to the nearby town of Bayville for errands, the village’s unique ambiance and security continue to be its hallmark.

As Centre Island experiences a generational shift in its population, locals harbor no resentment towards departing residents like Billy Joel. Instead, there’s a sense of appreciation for the positive impact these notable figures have had on the community.
