In a tragic turn of events, a man named Tavon Silver met a horrifying fate when he was found with fatal stab wounds inside a subway car in Manhattan. This distressing incident follows a previous hate crime that Silver miraculously survived just a year ago on a Bronx subway, as revealed by law enforcement sources.
The lifeless body of Tavon Silver, a 32-year-old resident of the Bronx, was discovered aboard a southbound 4 train that had just arrived at the 14th Street/Union Square station early on Saturday morning. Despite the efforts of the authorities, he was pronounced dead at a later time, NY Post reported.
The unsettling truth emerges that Silver had already endured a harrowing attack motivated by homophobia in the past. It was reported that in June 2022, while riding a northbound 2 train approaching the 3rd Avenue-149th Street station in Melrose, he was viciously stabbed in the arm by an assailant who hurled derogatory slurs at him due to his sexual orientation. The NYPD had addressed this incident last year, shedding light on the brutal act of hate.
Silver himself had spoken out about the traumatizing ordeal shortly after the attack. In an interview with Fox 5, he recounted the sequence of events that led to his grievous injury.
According to his account, he and his fiancé were on the train, enjoying their music when a man, later identified as 52-year-old Runadieo Jordan by the police, targeted them with a homophobic slur. The suspect continued to yell, and before Silver knew it, he was stabbed. He vividly described the moment when he realized the severity of the injury, noting a deep gash in his arm that resulted in copious amounts of blood. The wound was so severe that it had cut through his wrist, exposing his bone. In the midst of his fading consciousness, Silver recounted how the perpetrator callously walked by without offering any assistance, hurling another slur as he left.
Returning to the present tragedy, it remains unclear whether Tavon Silver boarded the subway already injured or if the stabbing occurred during his journey. Authorities have been unable to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. What is known is that he managed to cry out to a conductor that he had been stabbed before succumbing to unconsciousness.
Despite the efforts to save him, Silver tragically lost his life at Bellevue Hospital. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Saturday’s fatal stabbing.
Adding another layer of complexity to the story, sources reveal that prior to his untimely demise, Tavon Silver had a troubled history with the law. He had been arrested on multiple occasions, including charges of assault and robbery stemming from an incident at the East 68th Street and Lexington subway station in February.
The city mourns the loss of Tavon Silver, a man who had already endured the cruelty of a hate crime and who, despite surviving, ultimately met a devastating fate. The investigation into his tragic death continues, as authorities work tirelessly to bring justice to those responsible for this senseless act of violence.
Strangely enough, the media which normally thrives on any hate crime against the gay community, briefly covered the original attack, which never went national, before vanishing from the public consciousness.
