BY Art Moore (WND NewsCenter) In Senate testimony regarding mask mandates and other COVID-19 protocols, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said parents should not be the “primary stakeholder” in their children’s education.

Parents are “important stakeholders,” Cardona said, but educators must determine the programs.

Testifying Thursday with Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Cardona echoed Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe’s comments in a debate Tuesday with Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin.

McAuliffe said parents should not tell schools what they should teach.

“The parents had the right to veto books … also take them off the shelves,” McAuliffe said. “I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions.

“I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
