Game 2 of the NBA Finals saw a major collapse in viewers, with just 4.5 million people tuning in. This is down 68% from last year’s game two.
It’s the least-watched NBA Finals game on record. Dropping even below Game 1’s 7.41, the lowest-viewed Finals opener in history.
Even more interesting, the finals feature the face of the NBA, LeBron James.
Many speculate it’s James himself who is sinking the NBA ratings, due to his “woke” leftist social justice ideology.
Much like comedy shows, such as Saturday Night Live, far-left politics have permeated almost every aspect of entertainment. SNL had their best ratings in several years with deranged anti-Trump comedian Jim Carrey debuting his Joe Biden impersonation. The best ratings in years for SNL still amount to a minuscule audience compared to the show’s glory days.
One would expect Chris Rock hosting to be a great night of laughs, so the ratings popped, but after his opening monologue, which did not emote a single laugh from anyone watching, it was clear it the same old “woke” programming as usual. Rock, decided to talk about term limits, which is not really a “woke” idea, however, the tone was set; SNL would be a seminar in politics instead of escapist laughs.
Later in the evening, the musical guest, hip-hop artist Megan Thee Stallion, preformed a woke rap anthem that featured clips of screaming and ranting BLM protestors. The left-wing wokeness permeated every second of the program, and Carrey himself drew very few laughs.
Back to the NBA… It is obvious, the people are tired of kneeling, and raised fists. People are sick of Labron, who has made dozens of misleading social statements, put profits in China above human rights (showing he isn’t so “woke” after all) refused to comment on shootings of police officers, and instead of donating money to the needy, decided to bail out felons so they can vote.
Millions of turned-off Americans now associate the NBA with radical politics catered to only a minimal number of sports fans.
It is going to take years, for the NBA to turn this around.
