(Becker News) NBC on Monday floated an unusual article attempting to defend LGBTQ ‘Pride’ Marchers for chanting provocatively “We’re coming for your children” at a recent event.
The “coming for your children” chant has been used for years at Pride events, according to longtime march attendees and gay rights activists, who said it’s one of many provocative expressions used to regain control of slurs against LGBTQ people. https://t.co/vrcbuxCEkf

“The ‘coming for your children’ chant has been used for years at Pride events, according to longtime march attendees and gay rights activists, who said it’s one of many provocative expressions used to regain control of slurs against LGBTQ people,” NBC claimed.
But Twitter’s Community Notes contributors weren’t having any of it. On Tuesday, the community of fact-checkers wrecked NBC’s activist op-ed masquerading as a news story.
“‘Coming for your children’ is not a historical part of Pride.” read the factual rejoinder. “The chant appears to originate from the San Francisco Gay Men’s choir singing a song with this title 2 years ago, in 2021. This article is thus a misrepresentation of Pride’s history.”
As pointed out by the Post Millennial, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus made it explicitly clear what the chant was about.

“You think we’re sinful, you fight against our right, you say we all lead lives you can’t respect. But you’re just frightened, you think that we’ll corrupt your kids if our agenda goes unchecked. Funny, just this once, you’re correct.”
“We’ll convert your children, happens bit by bit, quietly and subtlety and you will barely notice it, you can keep them from disco, warn about San Francisco, make ’em wear pleated pants, we don’t care… we’ll convert your children… we’ll make them tolerant and fair.”
“Just like you’re worried, they’ll change their group of friends, you won’t approve of where they go at night (to protests). And you’ll be disgusted when they start learning things online that you kept far from their sight (like information).”
The song adds “Gen Z’s gayer than Grindr” and “even Grandma likes RuPaul,” the popular drag queen show. The group then chants in the chorus, “we’re coming for them, we’re coming for your children.”
Corporate America has been making an all-out push to back these LGBTQ events, such as the NYC Pride March where the chanting took place.
Many of these Pride parades incorporate sexually oriented performances and in some cases even nudity, even with small children in attendance.
