Twitter Execs Don’t Deserve “Golden Parachute”
The whacky world of this nation’s pathetic progressives, was knocked off its axis last week by Elon Musk’s recent termination of a massive number of his newly acquired firm’s employees. As you know, he bought the firm with $44 billion, a sum far greater than the Gross Domestic Product (GPA) of nations such as Jordan, Serbia and El Salvador. So, in our opinion, since he’s part of our capitalistic society an as an employer, risking that much of his own moolah for Twitter, he has the right to employ and fire whomever he wants.
Even such top execs at Twitter who were let go, CEO Parag Agrawal and Ned Segal, who have Golden Parachute clauses in their contracts awarding them around $122 million with their dismissals, were shedding legal warning tears. We’d take it in a blink. But there’s more to this story that meets the eye for the likes of the New York Times or the Washington Post whose hatred of Musk goes back to his stance to permit free speech on the social media platform and promising not to deny conservative voices their rights to free speech and the likes of our own publication (The Jewish Voice) and Donald Trump from tweeting our respective opinions.
Back in May, the Times made a nonsensical Tweet regarding Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover and his “free declared speech stance.” Apparently to the rusty old paper, they claim his growing up as a white person in Africa means that his leaning towards free speech is a sign of white privilege. So no matter what Musk does as owner of Twitter, if it does not meet the approval of the radical Left, it’s a matter again, of white privilege racism. The Post prophesied as much, claiming the racist, radical Right would take over that now democratically run platform.
The George Soros funded Media Matters was also on the attack. Its president, Angelo Carusone feared the ownership change will “radically transform the current information landscape,” really meaning that conservatives will now be permitted to Tweet their views openly. He explained, “It is only a matter of time before Musk rolls back Twitter’s community standards…and re-platforms Donald Trump and other accounts suspended for violence and abuse and opens the floodgates of disinformation.” Sure, like the claims of Trump’s being a Russian spy and other “truths” permitted on the old Twitter, that led to his twice being impeached. Let the avalanche of hatred and real “disinformation” from the Left on Musk begin. They take no prisoners and abide by no rules but theirs.
But let’s look at the furor being unleashed for his giving the pink slip to many of his new firm’s long term employees. Where was similar concern and consternation on the part of the Left when the Biden government terminated the employment of thousands of their brave nurses, doctors and other health employees who refused to take the mandated Covid injections that are now being scrutinized as ineffective and even dangerous to those who rolled up their sleeves in blind submission? Are they being rehired with apologies and back pay? Or how about the thousands of our volunteer troops serving heroically around the world, who were released because they refused the shots?
They all were subject to being fired from their jobs because they were mere employees serving at the whim of their bosses. And from what we’ve heard the laid off Twitter employees were offered a severance offer of up to 2 months of salary. Looks good to us in these times of unfilled jobs.
We wish Musk well on his new venture but see the hatred from the Radical Left combined with government interference as the problems he’ll have to face. But the guy who came up with the landmark, remarkable Tesla and his own SpaceX venture that puts our own space program to shame, will surely survive. And we’ll be the first to join his new Twitter venture. That’s America!!! Good luck, Elon!!!
