The “Big Lie” as Political Propaganda

Dear Editor:

A ‘big lie’ is a gross distortion or misrepresentation of the truth primarily used as a political propaganda technique.

“The” big lie South Africa told at the International Criminal Court in the Hague was that Arabs called Palestinians lived in the British Mandate for Palestine in 1948.

There were Arabs there. They were mostly Jordanians, Egyptians and Syrians and self-identified as such. During the mandate their numbers doubled by immigration.

Like all Muslims in the Middle East and North Africa, they considered Infidels to be Dhimmi to be looked down upon. The Arabic word for Blacks is ‘Abeed’ which means slave. They chafed at the sight of Zionists buying up desert and swamp-land and turning it green, though it was an incentive in their migration.

They also moved at the urging of their leader, Haj Amin al-Husseini, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. He sought to increase the Arab population and slow down Jewish immigration to thwart fulfillment of the League of Nations’ Resolution that the mandate for Palestine would be the reconstituted Jewish homeland, as stipulated in the San Remo Accords. It was further enshrined as Article 80 of the UN Charter,

Husseini organized pogroms against the Jews from the 1920s to the 40s. He spent WWII in Germany, created the Bosnian Muslim 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar and intervened to send 4000 Jewish Hungarian children to the gas chambers.

He had Hitler’s permission to extend the Holocaust into the Middle East as soon as Rommel’s armies cleared out the British, but Rommel was defeated at El Alamein.

During the mandate period, 1920 to 1948, only Jews identified as Palestinians. The Israeli Philharmonic was the Palestine Symphony Orchestra. The Jerusalem Post was the Palestine Post.

In 1964, the Soviet KGB engineered a masterful campaign to diminish America’s influence. They created the Palestine Liberation Organization. They simply renamed Israel, “Palestine” and the Arabs “Palestinians”.

The PLO re-wrote history. They postulated that they, not the Jews, were an ancient people with a long history in Palestine. They claimed Jesus was a Palestinian, though the events of the New Testament occurred seven centuries before the Prophet was born and the Arabs began their migration from Arabia.

The corollary, of course, is that Jews have no attachment to the land, are just converted Russians and the holocaust never happened. That most Israelis today are descended from the ethnic cleansing of MENA’s Jews is left out of the narrative.

In 1947, the UN proposed splitting Palestine between Arabs and Jews. The Syrian rep claimed there was no Palestine. It was southern Syria.

The Jews agreed to the partition, as they would have part of what was promised in international law. The Arabs refused and launched the Nakba to drive the Jews into the sea.

Since its founding, 30,000 Israelis have died defending their tiny democracy from hostile Islamic neighbors.

Today, there are 100 Muslims for every Jew. I leave it to your readers to assess which group contributes more to the welfare of mankind.

As for the United Nations, what more can be said of their bullying and corruption?

Sincerely

UNRWA Helps Hamas Poison Kids’ Minds

Dear Editor:

Thank you for your January 10 article about how Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, with the assistance of UNRWA, have indoctrinated Arab children to hate Jews and to want to become terrorists. That’s exactly what the Nazis did in the 1930s, while the entire world–including our much-revered President Roosevelt–looked away. Certain universalist-minded intellectuals—including some Jewish professors–are always saying that you shouldn’t compare Arab terrorists to the Nazis. I don’t see why not; the similarities are so obvious.

Sincerely,

Pro-Hamas Protesters are Ignoramuses

Dear Editor:

Your January 2 issue included a photo of pro-Hamas demonstrators in New York carrying a sign reading “Death to Settler Colonialism Everywhere! Viva Palestina!” These ignoramuses apparently know very little about the history behind the words on their own placards. The phrase “Viva Palestina!” is Spanish. But Hispanics in New York are not from Spain. The only reason they speak Spanish is because “settler colonialists” from Spain conquered South America centuries ago and imposed their language on the indigenous peoples there. If these Hispanic supporters of Hamas had any self-respect, they would stop speaking the settler-colonialists’ language and instead use the original language of their ancestors that was brutally torn away from them.

Sincerely,
Shoshana Goldblum

Bob Menendez’s Qatar Connection

Dear Editor:

It was very disturbing to read that Sen. Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) is now reported to have made positive statements about the government of Qatar in exchange for a fancy watch. But sadly, that’s not much different from the president of the Zionist Organization of America talking about the wonderful silk pajamas that he received as part of the all-expenses-paid trip that he took courtesy of the government of Qatar a few years back, following which he made positive statements about the Qatari leaders. All of our leaders, both political officials and officials of Jewish organizations, need to stop playing footsie with these nasty dictators.

Sincerely,
Maxine Levy
