The political system throughout democratic countries is grounded on an array of choices that voters make to be represented in government. The ability to choose allows different viewpoints and policy positions to be debated in the public square which enables the government to make the best choice society desires. Political dialogue in the governmental sphere creates a responsibility for those who have the power to promote change to act on the subjects of those debates. However, such action can only take place if political forces in the public arena have the organizational skills to win elections for positions of power.
In the event of a political force producing unsatisfactory or even mediocre results in strategizing political victories, the debates and messaging in the public square that they promote end up dissipating in the realm of governmental policy. A politician might oppose abortion, but if their political clout and skills are weak, their message will never be actualized; though their arguments might hold up in a debate on theoretical policy, the lack of ability for concrete action will turn public will against such political forces. Thus, for a political organization that has an ideology to be successful in effecting public policy, the need for political acumen and skills is vital.
In recent years in the United States, the momentum of achieving a victory in an election has shifted from winning the arguments to perfecting election strategy. While winning arguments allow candidates to win small battles; perfecting strategies allows them to win the war. The Democrat party, despite its flaws in beliefs and values, has been able to win elections that should not have been won, simply because of their focus on winning elections, instead of winning debates. At the same time that politics is about having superior arguments and policy positions, maximizing the ways to actualize such positions is more important in a world where policy isn’t just theoretical, it is a reality for millions. Democrats in recent years, have unleashed hundreds of election lawyers who are constantly challenging rational election laws in Republican states to accumulate political power.
A few months ago, a judge struck down congressional house maps in New York, Alabama, and Louisiana based on Democrat lawyers who argued that the maps were unfair. In each of these states, Democrats are poised to gain seats in the House of Representatives as a result of these rulings. In a close election year like the one we are in, the effect these rulings will have on who will control 1/3rd of the federal government will be immense. This is despite “fair” Democrat states like Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and New Hampshire, which consist of between 32%-45% of Republicans in their states, but with no Republican representative in any of them.
The fate of who controls Congress is not just about who has the best argument on combatting inflation, it’s also about who has the best strategies for winning elections. The Democrat party might be a political organization that believes in extreme policies like abortion up till birth, but that hasn’t stopped them from winning the presidency and Congress in recent years. One would think that the political opponents of the Democrats, the Republicans, would have similar strategies and operations to politically survive, but unfortunately, those working at the Republican National Committee (RNC) care more about buying flowers and other luxuries instead of strategizing political battles.
The Republican National Committee is the political arm of the Republican Party which promotes Republican candidates around the country through fundraising and assisting political operations. However, under the leadership of chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel, the party has fallen short in fundraising, ballot chasing, and political strategizing which has caused Republicans to lose elections that should have been won. In 2022, political experts throughout the country predicted that Republicans were going to have a red wave unseen in years; as we now know, not only did that not materialize, Democrats almost kept both houses of Congress.
The 2022 midterm elections marked the 3rd election season in a row where Republicans underperformed and lost. One would expect the leadership of such a political force to resign, however, the establishment of the Republicans maintained their support for those who are more focused on power than the objectives of the America First Republican movement. Furthermore, in 2023, Republicans lost key Supreme Court seats in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, a governor race in the Republican state of Kentucky, and abortion ballot propositions in different states. What exactly is the leadership of the Republican party doing to reverse this losing streak? The leadership is so stubborn in maintaining their own political power that they have refused to change paths. The only acceptable response to such feckless leaders is a new generation of leadership.
Charlie Kirk is an American conservative commentator who founded Turning Point USA, a conservative organization primarily for college students fighting for conservative values on college campuses. His goal is to reach out to young voters to vote and support Republicans, thus allowing the Republican party to continue to exist for generations to come. Kirk is a visionary who believes in the American First movement which is why he has decided to fill the gaping hole in leadership in the Republican party. His organization has pledged that they are going to be fulfilling the responsibilities that the RNC should be doing.
This includes setting up ballot-chasing operations, where volunteers will help Republicans who don’t usually vote, vote. They also plan to finance election integrity lawsuits, which will allow Republicans to prepare for election shenanigans before they occur. While the effort is only in its baby stages, the need for leadership in the conservative movement is a must if Republicans ever want to win again. Republicans love talking about winning and applying conservative principles in public policy, however, they won’t be able to do that if they keep reelecting leaders who are incompetent and stubborn in their ways.
The Republican party’s existence in the present and the future relies on how we will respond to the political skills of the Democrat party. The Democrat party’s political operation is not one to be discounted, since it is a force that needs to be reckoned with. It is vital for anyone who cares about the future of the country to support leaders like Charlie Kirk. Charlie is only one man in the fight, imagine if all conservatives joined with him; would Republicans ever lose again? Let’s find out together!
