Former President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., has publicly voiced his opposition to the idea of Nikki Haley, former UN ambassador, being chosen as his father’s running mate in the potential 2024 presidential bid, as was reported in the New York Post. In a recent interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling, Trump Jr. made it clear that he would go to great lengths to ensure that Haley does not become the vice-presidential nominee.

“I wouldn’t have her and I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn’t happen,” he told Newsmax’s Eric Bolling in the recent interview, the Post report said.

The staunch opposition from Trump Jr. is rooted in his belief that Nikki Haley advocates for “never-ending wars” and is perceived as a puppet of the Washington, D.C., establishment. According to the report in the Post, he accused her of being the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class, alleging their desire for control and influence, akin to academia and Harvard using their wealth for political sway.

Trump, Jr. added that, “Nikki Haley wants never-ending wars. She’s a puppet of the establishment in Washington, DC. She’s the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class because they want control— no different than academia and Harvard and using their billions to exercise influence,” as was noted in the Post report.

Haley’s recent surge in GOP primary polling for the 2024 elections has prompted discussions about her potential candidacy for vice president. The information provided in the Post report said that a survey by the American Research Group showed Haley trailing Trump by only four points. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has also raised the prospect of Haley becoming Trump’s running mate.

However, the opposition from Trump Jr. reveals a deep-seated disagreement over policy and a belief that Haley’s positions align more with traditional establishment figures, the Post report indicated. Trump Jr. specifically criticized her stance on foreign policy, accusing her of advocating for perpetual military engagements.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another potential candidate for the 2024 GOP primary, has indirectly addressed the speculation surrounding Haley’s vice-presidential aspirations. As was revealed in the Post report, DeSantis’ campaign launched a website for “Trump-Nikki 2024,” suggesting that the prospect of her being Trump’s running mate is being actively considered within political circles.

Despite the speculations and rising poll numbers, Nikki Haley has downplayed the idea of being the vice-presidential nominee. The Post reported that she asserted that she does not run for second place and has been critical of Donald Trump, stating that “chaos and drama” tend to follow him.

The rift within MAGA has intensified as key figures like Trump Jr., Lara Trump, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene voice their concerns over the potential Trump-Haley ticket. Trump Jr., a prominent figure in the Trump political orbit, took notice of Haley’s recent surge in the polls for the 2024 GOP primary.

In a notable contrast, Lara Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s sister-in-law, showed openness to the prospect of a Trump-Haley ticket. The Post report noted that while she acknowledged the potential for surprising political developments, she did not outright dismiss the idea. The differing opinions within the Trump family highlight the complexities of aligning on a single candidate for the 2024 elections.

The MAGA dissonance extends beyond the Trump family, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene predicting a revolt within the movement if Nikki Haley were to be considered for a role in Trump’s administration, according to the Post report.  Greene accused Haley of representing the “neocon establishment ‘America last'” wing of the Republican Party, a sentiment echoed by those who align with the MAGA ideology.

Nationally, Donald Trump continues to lead the 2024 GOP pack in polls, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, according to the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate, the report added. The ongoing internal debates within the MAGA movement reflect the struggle to define the party’s future direction and ideological purity.

Trump’s previous falling out with former Vice President Mike Pence adds another layer of complexity to the potential vice-presidential selection. As was reported by the Post, the former president has remained coy about revealing his running mate, a decision that is likely to shape the narrative and dynamics of the GOP primaries.

The upcoming CNN debate between Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, scheduled ahead of the Iowa caucuses on January 15, 2024, is expected to provide further insights into the evolving landscape of the 2024 GOP primary. The report in the Post also noted that the influence of Trump’s relatives, as seen in the case of Jared Kushner allegedly impacting Chris Christie’s chances in the past, continues to play a crucial role in shaping key appointments within the Trump political sphere.

Donald Trump Jr.’s opposition to Nikki Haley’s potential vice-presidential candidacy underscores the internal divisions within the GOP and the ongoing power struggle to shape the party’s future. As the 2024 elections draw closer, the dynamics of potential candidates and their alignments within the party will likely continue to evolve.
