In a bombshell report published Saturday by The Washington Post and noted in a report at Israel National News, new details have emerged about a physical confrontation between billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in the Oval Office this past April—a moment insiders say marked the beginning of Musk’s spectacular rupture with President Donald Trump.

The report, which draws heavily on eyewitness accounts, including a direct quote from former White House strategist Steve Bannon, portrays a scene of tension, rivalry, and ultimately violence at the very heart of American executive power. At issue was a policy dispute over the future of the Internal Revenue Service, but its implications have since rippled far beyond the walls of the West Wing.

According to the information provided in the Israel National News report, both Musk and Bessent had arrived at the White House to pitch rival proposals for restructuring the IRS. Musk reportedly advocated for a dramatic streamlining of operations through automation, while Bessent advanced a more conservative plan aimed at cutting bureaucratic spending and expanding audit capabilities. President Trump, after hearing both sides, reportedly threw his support behind Bessent’s plan.

That’s when things unraveled.

As Bannon recalled to The Washington Post, the confrontation boiled over as the two men left the Oval Office. “Scott said [to Musk], ‘You’re a fraud. You’re a total fraud,’” Bannon stated. Musk allegedly responded not with words, but with force—ramming his shoulder into Bessent “like a rugby player,” according to Bannon.

The situation escalated into a physical tussle, requiring staff to intervene and pull the two apart. Musk was forcibly escorted from the West Wing. “President Trump heard about it and said, ‘This is too much,’” Bannon added.

The Israel National News report noted that the incident marks one of the most sensational interpersonal clashes within the Trump administration in recent memory, signaling deep fractures within the president’s circle of technocratic advisors and key donors.

Since the incident, tensions between Musk and Trump have turned increasingly public and hostile.

Shortly after the April altercation, Musk began openly criticizing the President’s signature budget bill—what Trump has referred to as his “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” The legislation includes wide-reaching tax reforms, including the elimination of several environmental and electric vehicle incentives once championed by Musk.

Musk labeled the bill a “disgusting abomination” and urged his millions of X (formerly Twitter) followers to pressure lawmakers into rejecting it. “Call your Senator, call your Congressman… kill the bill,” he wrote in a now-viral post.

As Israel National News reported, the Trump administration did not take the attacks lightly. In retaliation, President Trump allegedly threatened to cancel federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including the Department of Defense deals with SpaceX and broadband initiatives using Starlink. The President also warned Musk that any attempt to back Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterms would come with political consequences: “He will pay the price.”

Not one to back down, Musk fired back with a flurry of posts on X. He claimed that without his support, Trump and congressional Republicans would not have prevailed in the 2024 elections. He floated the idea of forming a new political party and agreed with posts calling for Trump’s impeachment and advocating Vice President J.D. Vance as a successor.

Perhaps most controversially, Musk alleged—without evidence—that Trump’s name appeared in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein files and suggested that this connection was the reason the documents remain undisclosed. He later deleted the post, but screenshots of the claim quickly circulated online.

Musk’s allegations have created unease among some of his own political allies, raising questions about his intentions and long-term strategy in Washington, according to the report at Israel National News.

As of this writing, neither the White House nor the Department of the Treasury has issued an official comment on the reported altercation. Musk’s representatives have also declined to respond to media inquiries. The lack of denial, coupled with mounting public tension, has only fueled speculation about the broader implications for the Trump administration’s internal cohesion—and for Elon Musk’s future role in American politics.

The Israel National News report indicated that the growing animosity between Trump and Musk comes at a particularly sensitive time. With the President’s legislative agenda facing razor-thin margins in Congress, even minor shifts in elite donor or tech-sector support could prove decisive.

This latest development may be just the beginning. With Musk openly toying with launching his own political movement and Trump facing increased scrutiny from both friends and foes, the political landscape for 2025 and beyond appears more volatile than ever.

The story of a billionaire entrepreneur physically clashing with a sitting Treasury Secretary in the Oval Office—then launching a scorched-earth campaign against the President of the United States—marks an unprecedented chapter in American political history, as the report at Israel National News emphasized.

Whether this saga ends with reconciliation, further confrontation, or even a reshuffling of political alliances remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that Elon Musk has emerged as one of the most unpredictable and disruptive figures in the Trump era—and that Washington, once again, is bracing for impact.
