Maine Democrats are enjoying an embarrassment of riches.

They’re being given the chance to choose between Graham Platner: a self-declared “Communist” and “Antifa Supersoldier” with an SS tattoo (which he has since covered up), who lied about his entire working-class past.

And Janet Mills who’s 77 years old.

Currently Platner is leading Mills by a wide margin (58% to 24%) among Dems. That appears to be what they want.

All of that says some pretty obvious things about the state of the party and its base, which now consists of leftist nutters and people even the nutters are terrified of. Like the media, which published all the opposition research on Platner, but if he’s the nominee, will have to fall into line behind him.

Right now the plan is just to dismiss him as a ‘regular’ guy who, like most regular guys, has Nazi tattoos and described himself as a Communist, and will really help connect with that ‘working class’ base by not talking about the fact that his father was a lawyer, his mother owns multiple businesses, his grandfather was a world famous architect and he went to a posh prep school.
