(TJV NEWS) A shocking anti-Semitic incident at Barstool Sports’ bar in Philadelphia over the weekend has sparked outrage and disciplinary action, NBC News reported. The incident, which occurred Saturday night, involved a Temple University student who allegedly requested that a waitress present a bottle service sign reading “F*** Jews.”

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy, who is Jewish, took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn the act, describing it as “one of the most vile and disgusting things” he’s ever encountered. “I shook for two hours,” he wrote. Furious and deeply hurt, Portnoy pledged to make it his mission to “ruin these people” and declared, “I’m coming for your throat.”

As the situation escalated online, Gateway Pundit pointed out the gravity of the incident and the public’s response. Portnoy later adopted a more reflective tone, aiming to turn the event into a learning opportunity. He announced that all staff at the bar who allowed the sign to be displayed had been immediately terminated. Then, in a bold and symbolic gesture, he offered to send those directly involved on an educational trip to Auschwitz, the site of the former Nazi death camp.

“Let’s try to, like, turn a hideous incident into maybe a learning experience,” Portnoy said, adding that the individuals had accepted his offer for the “no-frills” trip. “Hopefully, they get educated and use this as a teaching moment, not just for them, but maybe for everybody.”

NBC News reported that Temple University confirmed on Sunday that its students were involved in the incident, which occurred at an off-campus location. One student has already been identified and placed on interim suspension pending further investigation by the Division of Student Affairs.

“Anyone found to be involved will face strict disciplinary action,” the university said, including the possibility of expulsion.

University President John Fry issued a strong condemnation: “In the strongest terms possible, let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent. It has no place at Temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university.”
