(TJV NEWS) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday celebrated what he called a successful test of his military’s “invincible” nuclear-capable cruise missile — the Burevestnik — marking what he suggested would be the next phase of actually deploying the so-called doomsday weapon into Russia’s active arsenal.
In a video released by the Kremlin, Putin appeared in military fatigues as he instructed his top general to prepare the missile for integration into Russia’s strategic forces. “We must define its possible uses and begin building the necessary infrastructure for deployment,” he said.

According to the Kremlin, the test was carried out on October 21, though it was publicly announced only this weekend. Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov told state media that the missile flew for several hours, covering 14,000 kilometers, while demonstrating its ability to evade missile defense systems. “The Burevestnik can strike protected targets at any distance with guaranteed precision,” Gerasimov claimed, describing it as a weapon unmatched by any other nation.
He further emphasized that the missile’s stealth capabilities make it “virtually undetectable by conventional radar” and only traceable by specialized satellites during launch and acceleration. Putin first unveiled the Burevestnik project in 2018, boasting at the time that it would have “unlimited range and extraordinary maneuverability.”

Trump:
They know we have a nuclear submarine, the greatest in the world, right off their shores. We don’t need to go 8,000 miles.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump reacted sharply to Putin’s announcement, calling it “not appropriate” given heightened tensions between Washington and Moscow and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Putin should be focused on ending the conflict rather than “showing off” new weapons.
“They know we have a nuclear submarine — the greatest in the world — right off their shores,” Trump said. “We don’t need to go 8,000 miles. Putin ought to end the war — a war that should’ve taken one week is now in its fourth year.”
Still, Trump also appeared to play down the seriousness of the test, noting, “We test missiles all the time. They’re not playing games with us, and we’re not playing games with them either.”
The exchange highlights the widening rift between the two nuclear powers as Putin continues to tout advanced weapons programs — even as diplomatic efforts to end the Ukraine war remain frozen.
