(TJV NEWS) In a shocking display of judicial negligence, an alleged murderer and illegal immigrant was released back onto the streets of Illinois by a left-wing judge — only to be rearrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who are once again left cleaning up the mess, Fox News reported.
Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, a 52-year-old Mexican national living illegally in Waukegan, Illinois, is accused of decapitating 37-year-old Megan Bos, hiding her body in his yard inside a bleach-filled storage container, and attempting to cover up the gruesome crime. Authorities say he stored her corpse for nearly two months before being arrested and charged with multiple felonies in April, including concealing a corpse, abuse of a corpse, and obstruction of justice, Fox News reported.
But instead of keeping him behind bars, Lake County Judge Randie Bruno inexplicably released Mendoza-Gonzalez after his first court appearance — a move that left law enforcement and the local community stunned. The man accused of one of the most disturbing crimes in recent Illinois memory was set free, Fox News reported.
Thankfully, ICE agents — the very same federal officers demonized by the progressive left — tracked Mendoza-Gonzalez down on Saturday at a Chicago market and placed him back into custody. He now remains in ICE detention, where many believe he should have been from the start.
“It is absolutely repulsive this monster walked free on Illinois’ streets after allegedly committing such a heinous crime,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Fox News. “Megan Bos and her family will have justice.”
Authorities say Bos vanished in February. Her body was discovered in April in Mendoza-Gonzalez’s yard, nearly two months after she went missing. Mendoza-Gonzalez reportedly admitted to police that Bos died in his home from a supposed overdose. Instead of calling for help, he smashed her phone, left her body in his basement for two days, then stored it outside in a garbage container filled with bleach — where it remained for 51 days, Fox News reported.
Despite the appalling details, Mendoza-Gonzalez was released under Illinois’ SAFE-T Act, a controversial left-backed law that has faced increasing criticism for enabling dangerous criminals to walk free with minimal detention. Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner blasted the law and the judge’s decision.
“I was shocked to find out literally the next day that the person that they had arrested for this had been released from prison under the SAFE-T Act … there’s other extenuating circumstances in this case,” Gartner told FOX 32 Chicago. “The type of crime, how long the crime was concealed, the fact that the person … is not a U.S. citizen and can maybe flee the country.”
Republican state Rep. Tom Weber also sounded the alarm: “Someone that hid their body in a garbage can for 51 days … after not calling 911 and breaking a phone — is this a non-detainable offense?” Weber asked. “Should we not wait for a toxicology report, anything?” Fox News reported.
This case is a grim reminder of how dangerous sanctuary policies and anti-ICE sentiment have become. While activist judges and lawmakers on the left prioritize criminal leniency, it’s ICE — an agency the left wants to defund — that is stepping in to stop violent offenders from vanishing into the shadows. Mendoza-Gonzalez never should have been released. Fortunately, ICE was there to pick up the pieces — again.
