Iran’s Involvement in Hamas’ Conquest Plans: Uncovering the Truth
Edited by: Fern Sidman
In recent months, a new report from the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has raised serious concerns about Iran’s alleged involvement in aiding Hamas in its quest to conquer Israel, as was reported on Sunday by FoxNews.com. The report suggests that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who holds immense power in the Iranian regime, played a significant role in planning a massacre that aimed to kill 1,300 people, including 30 Americans.
MEMRI’s report, published in 2022 and 2023, points to Khamenei’s alleged hinting at “The Complete Conquest” of Israel in his media outlet, Kayhan, according to the FoxNews.com report. This assertion implicates Iran in a disturbing plot. Furthermore, MEMRI’s translation of Kayhan suggests that the plan was orchestrated by the late Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani in 2020, who was killed by the U.S. military for his involvement in the deaths of over 600 American military personnel, as was indicated in the Fox New report.
The report goes on to explain that Khamenei’s statements about “the promise of the imminent conquest” in 2022 and “the announcement of the complete conquest” in 2023 seem to be interconnected with “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.” FoxNews.com reported that this revelation, as per MEMRI’s interpretation, implies a coordinated plan to conquer Israel. These allegations are indeed significant, but they also demand careful scrutiny.
In response to the MEMRI report, the U.S. State Department spokesperson referred to Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s interview. FoxNews.com reported that Blinken acknowledged Iran’s historical association with Hamas but emphasized the absence of direct evidence linking Iran to the specific attack. While Blinken acknowledged the long-standing relationship between Iran and Hamas, the absence of direct evidence highlights the importance of a rigorous investigation into these allegations, the FoxNews.com report added.
Hamas’ statements appear to align with MEMRI’s claims. Senior Hamas official Ali Baraka stated that in recent years, Hamas adopted a more “rational” approach, avoiding war and not participating in recent conflicts. As was indicated in the FoxNews.com report, this assertion implies that there was a concerted effort on the part of Hamas to avoid direct conflict. While this supports the idea that plans were in motion for some time, it does not conclusively prove Iran’s involvement in any massacre.
Hamas is designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S., and Iran holds the title of the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism, the FoxNews.com report stated. This designation underscores the urgency of thoroughly investigating these claims and understanding the extent of their connection.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lior Haiat, has pointed to the Ayatollah regime as the hidden hand behind the ongoing war against Israel.
On the first day of the war last week, Haiat told Fox News Digital, “Those terror organizations [Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad] are working as proxies of the Ayatollah regime,” in Iran. Haiat added that Tehran is “without a doubt… behind the scenes” of this war against Israel.
MEMRI is known for its diligent efforts to monitor trends and possible terrorist activities in the Muslim world, particularly in the Middle East. As was noted in the FoxNews.com report, the organization’s founder, Yigal Carmon, is a retired Israel Defense Forces colonel with extensive experience in counterterrorism. His prediction of the war in a prior article suggests a deep understanding of the region’s dynamics.
Moreover, MEMRI’s staff of Persian and Arabic language experts scour the media in the Muslim world for trends and indications of possible terrorist attacks, according to the FoxNews.com report.
Hamas’ founding charter from 1998, for example, explicitly calls for Israel’s destruction. The extremist ideology expressed in its manifesto cannot be ignored, and any actions that support such goals must be addressed, according to the report.
For example, Hamas declares in article 7 of its manifesto, “The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: ‘O Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.’”
MEMRI’s report from May 2018 highlighted Hamas’ involvement in the “Great Return March” campaign, which aimed to breach the border fence and enter Israeli territory. FoxNews.com reported that this campaign was deemed a civilian effort, but it had clear support from Hamas, and its goal was to penetrate Israeli territory.
FoxNews.com also reported that MEMRI wrote at the time, “An examination of statements coming out of Gaza about the ‘Great Return March’ campaign, by Hamas officials, by campaign organizers, and by participants and supporters of the campaign, reveal that it was not merely a popular civilian campaign but was fully supported by Hamas, and that its goal was to breach the border fence in order to penetrate Israeli territory and march on Israeli communities.”
The MEMRI investigation added “Reports mentioned that special units had been established for the purpose of penetrating Israeli territory, such as the Fence-Cutting Unit and the Border-Storming Unit. Although the campaign organizers stressed that the marches would be peaceful, some Gazan social media users called to fight the ‘infidels’ in these communities and to murder them.”
