Thousands of Pro-Hamas Supporters at NYC’s Washington Square Park Protest; Call for Dismantling the Israeli Gov’t
Edited by: TJVNews.com
In a reprehensible display of anti-Israel animus and hatred of Jews, approximately 2,000 protesters gathered at Washington Square Park on Friday for a pro-Hamas rally, bringing attention to their demands and expressing their concerns over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, as was reported by the New York Post. The crowd, representing various organizations, had a multitude of demands, chief among them being a “permanent end to the occupation” of Gaza and the dismantling of the Israeli government, the report added.

Protesters, waving Palestinian flags and carrying signs with messages such as “Free Palestine” and “Cease fire now,” passionately voiced their opposition to Israel’s military campaign in the Hamas-controlled territory, according to the Post report. Some signs bore pure propaganda messages, with one stating, “Israel thinks killing babies is collateral damage,” highlighting what they believe is Zionist aggression but is in actuality, Hamas terrorists using the Gazans as human shields by not permitting them to leave the northern part of the strip to avoid harm.

The rally took a distinctive turn as protesters called for a rebellion against Black Friday, urging people to disrupt the day and boycott companies supporting Israel. The Post also reported that chants echoed through the crowd, denouncing the “occupation” and labeling Israel as a racist state. Notably, the Anti-Defamation League classified the chant “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” as antisemitic.
The diverse coalition of organizations present, including the Palestinian Youth Movement, National Students for Justice in Palestine, and others, emphasized their commitment to ending the conflict in the Middle East. Manolo De Los Santos, a member of The People’s Forum, stated, “We refuse to be silenced,” laying blame on Israel for the war and calling for a permanent cease-fire with Hamas terrorists in Gaza, the Post report added.

On October 7, thousands of Hamas terrorists invaded southern Israel communities and the Supernova Music Festival and slaughtered over 1200 Israelis and others in the most barbaric atrocities committed since the Holocaust. Women were sadistically raped, their bodies mutilated, babies were beheaded and scores were burned alive.
The rally also became a platform for criticism of the White House’s unwavering support for Israel, the Post report said. Layan Fuleihan, education director of The People’s Forum, expressed frustration, asserting, “We are the White House’s worst nightmare,” and accused the administration of supporting violence and exploitation globally, the report added.

The clash of perspectives extended beyond verbal exchanges, with a small counter-protest featuring about a dozen people holding Israeli flags. This group, occasionally shouted down by pro-Palestinian demonstrators, focused on the names of hostages abducted by Hamas terrorists, chanting, “Bring them home,” the Post reported.
Tensions between the opposing groups, separated by a line of police officers, escalated with taunts and chants. The pro-Hamas demonstrators shouted “Allahu Akbar,” while those supporting Israel countered with chants of “Long live Israel” and sang Hebrew songs. Instances of vehemently anti-Semitic comments, such as “Go back to Poland,” further highlighted the charged atmosphere.
The rally culminated in a march up Sixth Avenue, with pro-Hamas protesters chanting slogans like “Intifada, intifada, long live the intifada.” The group made a symbolic stop in front of Macy’s at Broadway and 34th Street, delivering messages such as “While you’re shopping, bombs are dropping” and reiterating their determination with chants of “You will see, Palestine will be free, “ the Post reported.
The protest showcased the deep divisions and passionate convictions surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict, bringing the complexities of the issue to the forefront of public consciousness. As voices on both sides clashed, the rally served as a snapshot of the ongoing struggles and divergent perspectives that continue to shape the narrative surrounding this enduring conflict.
