A supermarket employee, who despises the Republican party and the Supreme Court abortion decision, cursed out former Mayor Giuliani and slapped him on the back during a campaign stop in Staten Island.

Rudy Giuliani was ‘attacked’ by the worker and called a ‘f***** scumbag’

The 39-year-old man, identified as Daniel Gill, who allegedly slapped Rudy Giuliani on the back Sunday has been charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury, harassment in the second degree and menacing in the third degree and was released on his own recognizance after a court appearance Monday, court records show, CNN reported.

Gill is an employee at the Shop-Rite, where the former mayor made an appearance.

Giuliani told WABC Radio’s Curtis Sliwa on his radio show on Sunday that during the incident, “I walk to the men’s room, I come out of the men’s room, a group of people are around me hugging me, kissing me, telling me Andrew is great and all of a sudden I feel a shot on my back like somebody shot me.”

‘I went forward but luckily; I didn’t fall down. Lucky I’m a 78-year-old who’s in pretty good shape, cause if I wasn’t, I’d have hit the ground and probably cracked my skull and then I look around and the guy says words I can’t repeat. ‘You f***in’ whatever!’

‘He moves away yelling and screaming, ‘You’re gonna kill women!’’

‘You guys think you’re saving babies, but you’re gonna kill women,’ the worker, who faces assault charges continued to rage.

‘The Supreme Court made a decision,’ Giuliani said. ‘You don’t go around attacking people because of it. I mean, go get it changed.’

‘He looked either drunk or high. He works for ShopRite, and I thought to myself that I might ordinarily have ignored it. But I had to have this guy arrested because this has going on too damn much.

‘I mean suppose I was a weaker 78-year-old and cracked my skull and died?’ he asked.

‘This has to stop. This is getting ridiculous,’ he told the New York Times. ‘I’ve been in politics 50 years, I’ve never been attacked like this.’

A second look at the video makes it apparent the “slap” was more of a tap on the back, however the rhetoric and anger made the incident all the more traumatic. Giuliani was on the campaign trail trying to get out the vote for his son Andrew who as of press is remaining competitive in the GOP primary for NY governor.

CNN reported:

The Legal Aid Society, which is representing Gill, said their client had patted Giuliani and just wanted to get his attention.

“The charges facing Daniel Gill, who has no previous contact with the criminal legal system, are inconsistent with existing law. Our client merely patted Mr. Giuliani, who sustained nothing remotely resembling physical injuries, without malice to simply get his attention, as the video footage clearly showed,” according to the statement.
