Man Dressed in Nazi Uniform Gets Kicked Out of SoHo Bar

Halloween or not somethings may just be intolerable.
As reported by the NY Post, on Saturday night a man who entered a bar wearing a Nazi uniform was practically kicked out by the other patrons. Some of the revelers were already wearing costumes, but the smiling young man, donning full regalia including a swastika armband, who showed up at Fanelli Cafe, could not be and was not tolerated by the crowd. The incident was captured on a video posted to Twitter. Patrons berated the man, and he appeared to be denied service at the bar. “What is wrong with you?,” one woman demanded. “F–k you mate,” the man replied. “You want to get f—ed up? [Leave] for your own safety,” the woman said, and another man walked up and pointed the unwanted patron out the door, prompting him to exit. A waitress at the bar the next morning told the Post they had never seen the man before.
The 18 second video garnered 1.7 million views by Sunday morning and 7.2 million views by Sunday night. Responses to the clip included a comment which read, “Perfect response from the people in the bar though.” Another viewer commented, “Shocked no one punched his smirking face.” Another woman wrote, “Honestly is so disgusting to still see stuff like this in 2022. People seem to think it was a long time, when in fact I’m only the 2nd generation after the Holocaust.”
One user touted making laws to penalize such displays of support for genocide. “Our state (Victoria, Australia) has banned any display of Nazi Insignia. Anyone who intentionally displays the Nazi symbol in public will face penalties of up to almost $22,000, 12 months imprisonment or both.” Other comments went on to say this isn’t the first time people have worn Nazi uniforms for Halloween. “A few years ago a guy where I live (small town in KY) dressed as a nazi for Halloween and dressed up is infant son as hitler. But it wasn’t just some costume. It was very detailed and clearly expensive. The whole town canceled him and his business. It was bizarre,” one user wrote. Another guy referenced a similar incident that occurred in Seattle Washington in 2018, where a man similarly wore a Nazi armband and got punched out for it.
Apparently, the ill-considered Nazi costume isn’t an original idea, as Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex had donned a similar costume in 2005, when he was 20 years old. The royal was reportedly under the influence of drugs much of the time then. A book that came out in 2020, by Robert Lacey entitled “Battle of the Brothers” says the tasteless costume is the original reason for the rift between Prince Harry and his older brother William, which continues to this day.
