Parents across America are continuing to take a stand against Critical Race Theory and far left indoctrination in the classroom, and at NYC the exclusive Spence School an apology from the “woke” is simply not enough.
The controversy began at the elite private school when a teacher played the students a video of a black comedian mocking white women, after parents collectively sent a letter to the school, over this incident, the principal, Bodie Brizendine sent out an apology letter.
“This video is not part of the Spence curriculum,” the principal had assured parents in her note. “Our teacher and the school acknowledge that sharing a satirical video that made fun of white women was a significant mistake.”
The video which started the backlash featured a clip from Ziwe Fumudoh’s Showtime series where the racially charged comedian asks writer Fran Lebowitz, “What percentage of white women do you hate? And there is a right answer.”
The parent who wrote on behalf on a larger group of parents wrote in response to the apology letter: “While I was upset after hearing what happened at Spence, the email from Bodie that followed really pushed me over the edge,” says a letter recently sent by a parent to the principal and school board — and widely backed by other parents, sources said.
“Further, that the board has not weighed in on this matter gives the impression that the board shares the opinion that racism is indeed acceptable as long as it fits within the climate of the times,” the letter raged.
“Choosing to label the video as ‘satirical’ and that it ‘made fun of’ and ‘ridicules’ is a gross understatement,” the parent wrote. “That you ‘fully trust the professionalism of your dedicated faculty and will be strengthening protocols’ is not an acceptable response”, the letter continued.
Meanwhile, At least 51 local recall efforts targeting at least 130 elected members on K-12 school boards have been initiated in the first six months of this year. That’s more than twice the annual average, according to Ballotpedia.
California leads in the 2021 recall effort, with 22 of the current situations occuring in the Golden State. Arizona (six) and Idaho (four) follow in the number of recall efforts, Axios reported.
This year’s recall efforts have centered around mask requirements, and ridding schools of critical race theory. Previously, school board recalls tended to stem from disputes over mismanagement, open meeting violations, or allegations of corruption, according to Axios.
Last week, the Loudoun school board cut short the public comment section of a school board meeting over transgender policy and critical race theory after a large crowd of unruly attendees refused to obey several orders to quiet down in a disruption leading to one arrest, The Washington Post reported.
