Baron’s Cove on Sag Harbor in The Hamptons has begun to offer six-month stays from $14,000 to $20,000 depending on room size and location.
Barron’s Harbor describes their resort as: “The Hampton’s preeminent All-American resort destination. With sixty-seven charming village and harbor-facing guestrooms, gorgeous lofted suites boasting sweeping harbor views, village rooms featuring intimate private gardens, and cozy dog-friendly accommodations, Baron’s Cove caters to every discerning traveler seeking a relaxing getaway on the East End.
This fine resort was ahead of the curb when the coronavirus invaded NY state and they became a blueprint for how to incorporate COVID-19 restrictions into a business. Before they were allowed to open after Memorial Day, they had a full COVID safety plan all set to go.
The East Hampton Star reported at the time in Mid-April, during the height of the pandemic in NY: “there will be more space between lounge chairs at the pool and fewer tables in the indoor lounge. Gym equipment will be moved outdoors, and the restaurant, which has traditionally been open to the public, will be reserved for guests. Also, the hotel will accept fewer bookings. “We don’t feel the need to operate at 100 percent, we want to give people the space they need”, Curtis Bashaw, the founder and managing partner of Cape Resorts, which owns Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor as well as several hotels in Cape May, N.J told the East Hampton outlet.
The East Hampton publication continued: “Each guest room at Baron’s Cove can be accessed without having to pass through a common area, he noted, adding that the cleaning staff will use a state-of-the-art ozone machine to filter the air in between stays. “Cleanliness is not only next to godliness, it’s a core competency for us,” Mr. Bashaw said. “Guests will be offered bottles of hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes at check-in. The hotel will monitor the health of its staff continually, he said. They will be issued face masks — “hopefully, cute” — that may double as name tags.
They clearly were ahead of the curb and were very prepared for the “new normal”.
The NY Post reported: Baron’s Cove, facing the picturesque village marina, has launched what it calls “A Key to the Hamptons: A Private Harborview Retreat.”
