Chipmaker Nvidia Donates $15M to Israeli Orgs Aiding Civilians Affected by War
By: TJVNews.com
In a remarkable display of solidarity and generosity, U.S. chipmaker Nvidia, along with thousands of its employees from over 30 countries, has donated a staggering $15 million to various non-profit organizations. Reuters reported that these organizations are actively engaged in supporting civilians affected by the recent conflict between Israel and the Iranian-backed terror group, Hamas. This monumental donation, the largest humanitarian fundraiser in Nvidia’s 30-year history, reflects a global commitment to assisting those impacted by the war.
The significant contribution was a result of collective efforts by Nvidia employees worldwide, who demonstrated their compassion by donating a total of $5 million. As was noted in the Reuters report, under a special program initiated by the company to aid those affected by the conflict, Nvidia then matched and doubled the employee donations, resulting in a grand total of $15 million. The diverse and widespread support underscores the multinational nature of Nvidia’s workforce and their dedication to making a positive impact in times of crisis.
The humanitarian initiative is not only a response to the broader impact of the conflict but also a heartfelt expression of concern for one of their own. Avinatan Or, a 30-year-old engineer at Nvidia since April 2022, was captured by the Hamas terrorists during the Nova music festival on October 7. Alongside his girlfriend Noa Argamani and around 240 others, Or remains in captivity, as was reported by Reuters. The donations are accompanied by heartfelt prayers and hopes for the safe return of their colleague and others still held in brutal captivity by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Nvidia highlighted that the donations would benefit various non-profit organizations in the region. According to the report on the Reuters news service, among the recipients are the Asor Fund (JGive), American Friends of Magen David Adom, Doctors Without Borders, Friends of United Hatzalah, IsraAID (US) Global Humanitarian Assistance, Jewish Agency for Israel, World Central Kitchen, and Zaka. Each of these organizations plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian aid, medical assistance, and support to those affected by the conflict.
Beyond the financial contributions, Nvidia has extended its support in practical ways. The company donated hundreds of computers to families evacuated from the north and south of Israel, facilitating access to technology during challenging times, the report on Reuters said. Furthermore, thousands of hot meals have been provided from Nvidia’s Yokneam office cafeteria, demonstrating a commitment to addressing immediate needs in the affected regions.
As the largest humanitarian fundraiser in the company’s history, this initiative stands as a testament to the potential for corporate entities and their employees to contribute meaningfully to global humanitarian causes.
