Paramount and Busy Bee Film Productions, in collaboration with the Bau Museum, announce a series of special screenings and premieres across Israel for the highly anticipated feature film “Bau, Artist at War.”
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Sean McNamara (Reagan, Soul Surfer) and starring Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild, Milk, Lone Survivor, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Inbar Lavi (Lucifer, Imposters), the film continues to gain international momentum as it prepares for multiple events in Israel this winter.
Rooted in courage, creativity and the unbreakable resilience of the human spirit, “Bau, Artist at War” tells the extraordinary true story of Joseph Bau, an artist, prisoner and unlikely hero whose ingenuity and defiance helped save Jewish lives during the Holocaust. His clandestine document forging within the Plaszów concentration camp remains a profound testament to the power of art as resistance.
The upcoming Israel screenings represent a deeply meaningful cultural and emotional homecoming for Bau’s legacy, honoring his homeland and celebrating a story that continues to inspire audiences worldwide.
“Bringing ‘Bau, Artist at War’ to Israel is one of the most powerful moments of this journey,” said McNamara. “Joseph Bau’s story is not just about survival. It’s about the indomitable spirit of creativity and hope that lives on, even in the darkest times. To share this film in the place where his legacy began is both humbling and profoundly significant.”
