Sanders Suffers from “Blame
 Israel First” Syndrome

Dear Editor:

In a March 27 tweet Senator Bernie Sanders stated that “Next week, I will force votes to block $8.8 billion in new arms sales to Israel.” The Vermont senator also wrote that Netanyahu’s illegal war has killed 50,000 Palestinians.

Sanders was wrong. There is nothing illegal about Israel’s war against Hamas. This is not Netanyahu’s war, it is Israel’s war. Israel did not start this war, Hamas invaded Israel.

Sanders’ other claim was wrong too. Figures of deaths in Gaza are supplied by Hamas, an international terrorist group that, among other things, claims the Holocaust is a hoax. Holocaust-deniers are not usually considered a reliable source of information. Close to half of the Hamas number are armed terrorists—the same ones who committed mass murder in Israel on October 7, 2023. Of the civilians killed in Gaza, the Hamas number includes thousands of people who died of natural causes as well as civilians who were killed when rockets fired by terrorists at Israeli cities and towns fell short and exploded within Gaza.

Sanders’ efforts failed as they well should have. 14 other senators did vote with him against Israel and Sanders will no doubt continue his maligning of Israel because he suffers from Blame Israel First Derangement Syndrome.

Sincerely,

Jews Must Get Their Act Together

Dear Editor:

Jews must get their act together. The Jew-haters are well organized and financed.

Antisemites are anti-Infidels. They are aiming to create an Islamist Europe and America. Europe is collapsing under the pressure now. Next will be America – all of it.

The only one protecting us is the Jew. He’s the one who plants trees, plays the violin and wins Nobel Prizes in science.

Radical Islam knows the way to destroy America is through Jerusalem,

America has been self-abusive since Obama brought the Muslim Brotherhood into the fold. Funded by the ‘dark state’ the left has subverted our Ivy league treasures and our democratic traditions.

Will Trump manage to reverse this decline? He will if two things happen. His administration and Israel must coordinate to defeat the Iranian/Palestinian colonial enterprise, and the Jews have to get their ducks in a row and work for their own preservation.

The Democrats and Liberals are not your grandfather’s parties. They are flooding Iranian/Palestinian tyrants with money, while the Arabs ship millions of migrants to destabilize our institutions and rampage through our streets.

Jews must not be globalists. Do not worry about tariffs or climate change. Don’t subject your students to schools that won’t protect them, such as Harvard, Columbia, U of Toronto or McGill. Support universities you trust.

And, finally, Jews must stop fighting each other. The ‘dark state’ makes it easy to protests this or that Israeli policy, and who doesn’t love pilpul, however, you either support the government in power or you support Hamas.

Sincerely

Pope Francis’ Betrayal of Israel and the West

Dear Editor:

The passing of Pope Francis leaves behind a deeply troubling legacy — one marked by resentment toward Western civilization, and, most grievously, by an unmistakable animus toward Israel and the Jewish people.

Throughout his pontificate, Francis consistently aligned himself with Israel’s enemies, while refusing to acknowledge Israel’s right to defend itself against the barbarism of Hamas terrorism. Even after the horrific atrocities of October 7, when Hamas terrorists slaughtered innocent civilians, Francis merely remarked, “they killed someone,” a grotesque minimization that strained relations with the Jewish world to a breaking point. Unlike his predecessor Benedict XVI, who defended Western values and proudly sought cooperation with the Jewish people, Francis often blurred the line between Christian anti-Judaism and the brutal anti-Semitism emanating from radical Islam.

Rather than championing the freedoms of the West, Francis decried Europe as a relic of the past. He turned a blind eye to Islamic violence, equating it with theoretical “Catholic violence” and even justifying Islamic terrorism by suggesting poverty was to blame — a fiction long refuted by facts. His infamous meeting with Imam Al-Tayeb, who has called for Islamic unity against Israel, was emblematic of his reckless embrace of ideological forces hostile to both Jews and democratic values.

Francis’ betrayal of Western ideals went even further. He condemned the defense of Europe’s Christian roots, labeled legitimate concerns about mass migration as “alarmist propaganda,” and compared migrant centers to Nazi concentration camps — a vile and ahistorical distortion that trivialized Jewish suffering. He refused to call China anti-democratic, met with Greta Thunberg to promote a hysterical and anti-Western environmental agenda, and relentlessly preached that Europe’s identity was “multicultural,” undermining the very foundations of its civilization.

While Pope John Paul II championed freedom and Benedict XVI defended reason, Francis peddled resentment, division, and a corrosive disdain for the very principles that built the modern world. His pontificate resembled not the guardianship of faith, but a capitulation to the ideological “South” that seeks to dismantle the West’s moral and political achievements.

History may yet judge Francis harshly. Where his predecessors brought courage and conviction, Francis brought compromise and cultural suicide. In an era that demands clarity and strength, he chose to see only shadows where there was once light. His legacy, sadly, is one of abandonment — of Israel, of the West, and of the timeless values his office was meant to defend.

Sincerely,

Why Diplomatic Talks with Iran Will Fail

Dear Editor,

Diplomatic negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program are, and always have been, a futile exercise. The regime in Tehran has repeatedly demonstrated that it cannot be trusted, and its latest attempts to engage in talks with the United States are nothing more than a ploy to buy time, stabilize its crumbling economy, and further its nuclear ambitions.

Iran’s rulers are not interested in peace or compromise. They view nuclear weapons as their ultimate insurance policy — the key to their survival in the face of internal unrest and external pressure. The Iranian people have repeatedly risen up against their oppressive regime, yet the mullahs continue to cling to their nuclear weapons program, knowing that without it, they risk losing their grip on power.

Iran’s history of deceit in negotiations speaks for itself. Under the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), Iran was allowed to enrich uranium under the guise of peaceful purposes. As soon as the deal collapsed, Iran resumed its enrichment activities, making it clear that the regime cannot be trusted with any form of nuclear infrastructure.

The West’s insistence on pursuing negotiations with a regime that openly sponsors terrorism and threatens its neighbors is naive and dangerous. Every diplomatic attempt has only bought Iran more time to develop its weapons and strengthen its terror networks. Iran’s rulers have been playing the West for fools, and if history is any guide, they will continue to do so.

The only viable solution is the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program, without any negotiations or illusions. Talks will not work — the regime must be held accountable for its actions, and its nuclear infrastructure must be destroyed.

Sincerely,
Aryeh D. Weinkrantz
