(TJV) YouTube has suspended far-right commentator Candace Owens for a week and demonetized her account after she posted an unreleased 2022 interview with Kanye West (now known as Ye), in which the rapper made antisemitic comments. The platform also removed three episodes from Owens’ channel, including the interview, citing violations of its hate speech policies.

On Monday, Owens took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the suspension, blaming it on “Zionists.” She shared screenshots of YouTube’s notifications and wrote, “There will be no show this week because @YouTube issued me a strike and one-week suspension for my sit-down with Kanye. They also removed the interview as ‘hate speech,’ as it was mass reported by Zionists. Their tactics never change.”

In another post, Owens suggested the suspension was part of a larger conspiracy, claiming, “We all know exactly who is behind this and why.” She further elaborated in a video, accusing Zionists of orchestrating “financial terrorism” and harassment campaigns against her. She also dismissed the suspension, saying, “I don’t belong to Zionists, YouTube, or any of these [Jewish] groups… My platform belongs to God, and it’s the people around the world who support me.”

Owens defended West’s remarks from the 2022 interview, saying he was “calm and filled with love” while discussing uniting the world against evil. In the interview, West made several controversial comments about his experiences with Jewish individuals, including his doctor and trainer. He also drew a disturbing comparison between Black abortion rates and the Holocaust and claimed that Jewish businessmen had caused harm to him and his friends. West even referenced his infamous antisemitic tweet from 2022, in which he threatened violence against Jewish people.

The timing of YouTube’s suspension of Owens coincides with her inflammatory comments last week about Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the late leader of the Jewish Chabad-Lubavitch movement. During an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Sept. 4, Owens debated Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and falsely claimed Schneerson preached “Jewish supremacism” and the hatred of non-Jews.

Her remarks prompted backlash from Chabad-Lubavitch’s headquarters in Brooklyn. Yaacov Behrman, a spokesperson for the organization, criticized Owens for her “utter ignorance” in labeling Schneerson a Jewish supremacist. Chabad’s official X account also shared a series of posts highlighting Schneerson’s inclusive beliefs, emphasizing his commitment to treating all people with respect and the many hours he spent responding to letters from individuals worldwide.

  1. I really don’t know what happened to Candace Owens. She metamorphosized from a loving, welcoming, sweet person to a hateful, unhappy and lashing-out individual.
I certainly hope that she gets better in the future.
