Three Israeli civilians were killed in Iranian ballistic missile attacks on central Israel between Friday and early Saturday morning.
In Rishon Letzion, two people died: Yisrael Aloni, 73, and a woman in her 40s whose name has not yet been released for publication. The attack also wounded 21 others, four of them seriously, according to the Magen David Adom emergency medical service.
One of Iran’s ballistic missiles, which carry a ton of high explosive, got through Israel’s sophisticated missile defence system, also wounding some 50 people, Telegraph UK reported.
In the aftermath, a rescue worker emerged from the shattered wrecks of homes clutching a tiny baby, who was said to have survived with light wounds.
On Friday, Etti (Eti) Cohen Engel from Ramat Gan died from injuries sustained in a missile strike, Uri Shacham, chief of staff of Magen David Adom, confirmed to JNS.
According to the IDF, close to 100 ballistic missiles were fired in several waves directly from Iranian territory, marking one of the most significant escalations between the two countries in recent years.
Rescue services reported at least 41 people injured as a result of the attack
According to a report in The Jerusalem Post, a Magen David Adom (MDA) Mobile Intensive Care Unit, dispatched to assist at the scene, was struck by shrapnel from the blast. Two female paramedics, fully equipped in protective gear, suffered minor injuries from glass fragments. Both were treated immediately on-site and did not require hospitalization. No other serious casualties were reported at the time.
Channel 12, cited by The Jerusalem Post, indicated that the rocket strike in Tel Aviv may be one of four such incidents following the Iranian missile barrage. Fire and Rescue teams are actively working in the village of Taiba as well. In response to the evolving situation, the Home Front Command issued advisories permitting residents to leave shelters, though they were urged to remain within easy reach in case of subsequent alerts.
Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post confirmed that medical teams from MDA were dispatched throughout the Gush Dan metropolitan area to evaluate potential injuries and provide support.
Tragically, The Jerusalem Post reported that an Israeli woman fatally wounded in the central district succumbed to her injuries late Friday night, marking the first confirmed fatality attributed to this phase of the conflict. 63 others were wounded in the attack.
The Jerusalem Post report underscored a critical security advisory issued by the IDF Saturday morning: citizens were strongly urged not to publish the locations of missile strikes or impacts on social media. “The enemy monitors this footage to improve its impact capabilities. Be responsible—do not share locations online!” the IDF stressed.
Meanwhile, The Jerusalem Post report noted that, according to reporting in The New York Times, Iranian air-defense units were actively firing missiles in Tehran’s Pastour neighborhood overnight. This area—home to Iran’s Supreme Leader and presidential compounds—has come under particular defensive strain, reflecting the severity of Iran’s defensive posture.
This latest rocket wave marks a significant intensification in Iran’s retaliation to Israel’s early-morning air assault on Iranian nuclear and military targets. As the Jerusalem Post report characterized, these measures indicate Tehran’s expanding willingness to engage directly with Israeli territory, moving beyond proxy-based responses.
