(TJV NEWS) In a dramatic escalation of its conflict with Tehran, Israel last week launched a covert campaign dubbed Operation Narnia, resulting in the targeted assassination of ten of Iran’s most senior nuclear scientists, Channel 12 reported.
As Times of Israel also noted, the strikes were executed with precise coordination to eliminate the scientists simultaneously as they slept in their homes—preventing any possibility of advance warning or escape.
According to Channel 12, nine of the ten were killed in the initial wave of the operation, with the final target neutralized shortly afterward. The details of the weapon used in the assassinations remain classified and under strict gag order, the outlet said.
The broader offensive—carried out overnight between Thursday and Friday—included direct hits on Iran’s ballistic missile infrastructure, the Natanz nuclear facility, and high-ranking members of the Islamic Republic’s military command structure. However, Israeli intelligence officials emphasized that the removal of these nuclear scientists was the cornerstone of the mission.
A senior Israeli source told Channel 12 that Iran’s nuclear personnel were caught completely off guard, having believed that staying at home insulated them from attack. In contrast to earlier high-profile assassinations, which typically occurred during commutes, these killings marked a new level of precision and operational reach by Israel.
Planning for the operation reportedly began as early as November, with Israeli intelligence having tracked the scientists for years. According to the same senior official, while military figures and hardware can be more easily replaced, the expertise and institutional knowledge held by these scientists represent a long-term strategic loss for Tehran.
The unprecedented scale and coordination of Operation Narnia are likely to have lasting consequences on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, as well as the broader security dynamics of the region.
