Several local lawmakers are pushing back after discovering that former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been placed on the terror watch list.

Representatives Gene Ward, Diamond Garcia, Davis Alcos, and Elijah Pierick sent a letter to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), demanding an explanation and calling the action “harassment.”

According to the Air Marshal National Council, whistle-blowers have revealed that Gabbard is part of the Quiet Skies program, which keeps an eye on individuals considered to pose an “elevated risk to aviation security.”

Reports indicate that at least five agents and two teams of explosive detection dogs were monitoring Gabbard and her husband last month.

She was placed on the list immediately after criticizing the Biden Administration on Fox News. Speaking on Fox News, she says this list called “quiet skies” is an act of political retaliation.

Gabbard served in a field medical unit of the Hawaii Army National Guard while deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005 and was stationed in Kuwait from 2008 to 2009 as an Army Military Police platoon leader

In their joint statement, the lawmakers expressed:

The people of Hawaii hold Tulsi in high regard, and your actions have insulted us by attempting to damage her reputation without justification. As leaders in the State of Hawaii, we remind you that this is not China or Russia. Our government must not overreach or misuse its regulatory authority, as outlined by our US Constitution. You have embarrassed the State of Hawaii, and we urge you to provide clarification immediately.

Gabbard, who has been a vocal critic of the Biden Administration, claims that the decision to monitor her is both unconstitutional and politically driven.

The TSA has not yet responded to requests for comment.
