Where does the responsibility lie?
Even today, nearly two years into this war, tell me who you vote for, and I can probably guess where you stand on the hostages. Based on your political leaning, it is fairly easy to tell whether you believe that the release of the hostages should be prioritized ahead of conquering Gaza City – the current operational plan on the cabinet table – or the opposite.

This is pure JPost extreme-left virulent anti-Israel seditious lies and propaganda, and should not be supported.
The alleged “polls” are fraudulent lies. The actual percentage of Israelis who support a “deal” with Hamas, leaving it in power, is extremely small. The media hype is fraudulent, examples including 1-2 million “demonstrators”, when in fact it is at most a few tens of thousands out of a population of 10 million.
This propaganda slanders PM Netanyahu whose support by Israeli citizens is overwhelmingly solid. Israel is under international, foreign, and even seditious domestic attack. (American Jews are failing to protect themselves, much less Israel, even from their own “Jewish “institutions and leaders.)
This dishonest anti-Israel propaganda should not be provided a public platform, particularly when the truth is not otherwise being told.
The fault lies with Israel. Can’t take a 2 day war and turn it into a 22 month war and counting. Must make it clear than anyone that kills a hostage will be killed along with his family like the Soviets did when their diplomats were kidnaped in Lebanon in 1983. Israel instead engages in negotiations, ceasefires and plenty of aid – much of it goes to Hamas. Nothing should depend on Hamas. It would be like saying that peace won’t come to Europe during the 1940s until Germany will recognize the rights of others. Nothing depended on Germany. Germany must surrender and behave or there will be nothing left in Germany – period. That is the way Israel should deal with Hamas – not the garbage we have seen the last 22 months and counting.
