Exploitation of the Holocaust

Dear Editor:

I share your outrage (in your Feb. 4 editorial) about Gov. Tim Walz distorting the memory of Anne Frank, and the so-called Lemkin Institute likewise using the name of a revered figure from the Holocaust—the scholar who coined the term “genocide”—to smear Israel.

If a politician or an institute tried to exploit the names of cherished leaders of the African-American civil rights movement, there would be widespread condemnations, and rightly so. Imagine if some politician tried to justify his policies by dragging in the name of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, or Rosa Parks, heroine of the desegregation struggle. Exploiting the names of Anne Frank and Raphael Lemkin is just as objectionable.

Sincerely,
Nahum Strachberg

Can US-Iran Talks Prevent a Regional War

Dear Editor:

The core to Judeo-Christian morality is “Thou shalt not bear false witness”.

By contrast, Islamists believe in ‘Taqiyya’, meaning they do not have to say what they really think when dealing with non-believers. Lying to the Infidel for the purpose of gaining an advantage is respected and expected.

Taqiyya is enshrined in the Koran. In 622, the Prophet found shelter among the Quraysh Jews after being rejected in Mecca. They signed the Constitution of Medina, ensuring co-operation and laying the foundation for a Muslim community. In 629 Mohammad turned on the Jews. He directed the decapitation of the men and took 1000 girls and women as slaves.

Radical Islam is waging war against the West. Anything once Muslim is Muslim forever. Infidels are Dhimmi, subordinates to be conquered.

America negotiating with Iran is largely a waste of time. Anything the ayatollahs agree to is a hoax, whether it relates to weapons development or the slaughtering of their own people. So long as the current rulers are in power, Taqiyya is in play.

If the talks are meant to remove the top echelon of the government and military and to find them refuge in another country, there is what to discuss. Short of that, it is useless and a betrayal of the Iranian peoples’ dream of freedom.

Sincerely,

Window of Hope’ Shut Tight

Dear Editor:

There are 15,000,000 Jews and 1,500,000,000 Muslims in the world

There is one Israeli and 22 Arab states.

There is one Jewish and 56 Muslim UN members.

During the Mandate period (1920-48), the Arab population doubled by immigration. Jews were called Palestinians and Arabs identified with their clans or countries of origin.

Most Arabs in Judea and Samaria were Jordanians or Syrians. Those in Gaza were Egyptians.

In 1964, the Soviet KGB created the Palestine Liberation Army to drive the Jews out and diminish American influence. They recruited Arab fighters from throughout the Middle East and North Africa and called them ‘Palestinians’. They renamed Israel, ‘Palestine’ and all Arabs who ever lived there, ‘Palestinians’.

They caused havoc in Egypt, started civil wars in Jordan and Lebanon and supported Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Despite their barbarism, Israel foolishly invited Yasser Arafat and 100,000 followers into Israel under the Oslo Accords.

Whomever is pressuring Israel, rather than the Islamic terrorists, after Gaza’s October 7th massacre of innocents, has their morality is in a dark place, either by ignorance or malice. If anyone owes the Palestinians anything, including a safe haven, it is the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, not Israel.

Sincerely
Len Bennett

Mamdani’s Mess

Dear Editor:

New Yorkers were promised competence in times of crisis. After Winter Storm Fern, they got confusion, delays, and neglect. Weeks later, snow still chokes sidewalks and side streets, trash piles rot on curbs, and rats thrive in the mess. This wasn’t an unpredictable emergency—it was winter in New York. Mayor Mamdani’s administration failed to mobilize quickly, communicate clearly, or restore basic services. A city that prides itself on resilience deserves leadership that can manage snow, sanitation, and safety when it matters most.

Sincerely,
Esther Slomowitz
Brooklyn, NY
