(AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed primary U.S. credit for Israel’s missile-defense capabilities, saying he told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop publicly taking credit for the system during remarks at the World Economic Forum.
Trump said the technology underpinning Israel’s air defenses was developed by the United States and described American support as decisive to Israel’s security. He said he raised the issue directly with Netanyahu, arguing that Washington’s role has been underplayed.
The president also addressed the Gaza ceasefire, saying Hamas had agreed to relinquish its weapons and warning of severe consequences if it failed to comply.
Trump reiterated his view that U.S. actions have removed major threats to Israel and said he remains confident that stability in the region can be maintained, while emphasizing continued American backing for Israel’s defense.
