Gallup Poll Shows Collapse in Democrats’ Faith in Capitalism, the Left Drifts into Marxism

(TJV NEWS) A new Gallup poll shows that only 54% of Americans now view capitalism favorably — the lowest level since Gallup began tracking the question in 2010, and down six points from 2021. At the same time, just 39% of Americans maintain a positive view of socialism overall. But as ZeroHedge points out, the partisan breakdown tells a far more alarming story.

Among Democrats, support for capitalism has completely cratered, dropping to just 42% — the first time in Gallup’s history that fewer than half of the party views America’s free-market system in a positive light. Meanwhile, two-thirds of Democrats now say they support socialism, a massive increase from 50% back in 2010. ZeroHedge highlights that this is not just a statistical quirk — it reflects a deliberate ideological shift as the Democratic Party embraces a radical socialist agenda.

Republicans, by contrast, remain steady. Three-quarters of GOP voters say they continue to favor capitalism, while their skepticism of socialism remains firm — rooted in lessons from the Cold War and the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Independents fall somewhere in between, but Gallup notes they too are drifting away from big corporations, whose popularity has collapsed across the political spectrum.

Support for mega-corporations has reached a historic low: just 60% of Republicans, 36% of independents, and a meager 17% of Democrats view them positively. But ZeroHedge stresses the larger takeaway — while distrust in big business is bipartisan, only Democrats are increasingly turning to socialism and even openly flirting with Marxism as an alternative.

Gallup underscored that the shift coincides with the rise of high-profile figures like Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, all of whom proudly embrace the label of “Democratic Socialist.” Since 2016, more Democrats have consistently rated socialism more positively than capitalism, and the gap has now widened to a stunning 24 points.

As ZeroHedge bluntly put it, Democrats are no longer content with incremental reforms. They are calling for a wholesale “socialist reconstruction of America,” with some activists and leaders openly invoking Marxist ideas. From radical demands for state control of the economy to rhetoric celebrating the collapse of capitalism, the party’s trajectory is clear.

President Donald Trump has long warned of this danger. During his 2024 campaign, he repeatedly declared, “America will never be a socialist country.” The latest Gallup numbers confirm why that warning resonated. While Republicans remain firmly committed to free markets and national strength, Democrats appear to be marching in the opposite direction — embracing socialism, indulging in Marxist rhetoric, and turning their backs on the economic system that built the American superpower.
