(TJV NEWS) As CNN reported, Ghislaine Maxwell — who is serving a 20-year federal prison sentence for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls — sent a striking message Monday to President Donald Trump: if he grants her clemency, she is prepared to publicly clear him of any wrongdoing connected to Epstein.

The unusual proposal was revealed by Maxwell’s attorney during her virtual deposition before the House Oversight Committee, immediately reigniting political controversy surrounding the Epstein case.

“Ms. Maxwell is prepared to speak fully and honestly if granted clemency by President Trump,” her lawyer, David Oscar Markus, said in a statement read during the deposition and later shared on social media. Markus claimed that Maxwell alone can provide the full truth about Epstein’s network and associations, even if the details prove uncomfortable for some.

He specifically asserted that both Trump and former President Bill Clinton were innocent of any misconduct related to Epstein, despite their names appearing in documents released by the Justice Department. “Some may not like what they hear, but the truth matters,” Markus said.

Markus added that Maxwell is uniquely positioned to explain unresolved aspects of the case, arguing that the public deserves to hear her account.

Trump has not dismissed the possibility of issuing Maxwell a pardon or commuting her sentence. Both Trump and Clinton have repeatedly denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes.

The revelation came as Maxwell invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during the Oversight Committee proceeding, declining to answer lawmakers’ questions. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer criticized her refusal to testify, calling it “very disappointing.” He said the committee had hoped to question Maxwell not only about her crimes with Epstein, but also about potential co-conspirators.

Democrats on the committee accused Maxwell of attempting to leverage her silence in exchange for leniency. Rep. Melanie Stansbury said Democrats would not accept what she described as an effort to “buy clemency” by refusing to cooperate. “We will not allow this silence to stand,” Stansbury said.

Comer, however, downplayed speculation about expanding the probe further. When asked whether Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick might be subpoenaed as part of the investigation, Comer said his immediate focus was on five upcoming depositions already scheduled.

Meanwhile, the Epstein investigation continues to cast a long shadow over Washington. According to CNN, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are expected to sit for closed-door depositions later this month, adding yet another chapter to a scandal that continues to entangle some of the most powerful figures in American politics.
