Back-to-Back Murders of Israeli Men in Los Angeles Spark Concern and Ongoing Investigation

Edited by: TJVNews.com

Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating two disturbing homicides involving Israeli nationals that occurred within a 24-hour span, prompting heightened law enforcement activity and deep unease within the local Israeli and Jewish communities. As reported by The JFeed on Wednesday, while police have yet to establish a direct link between the two cases, the back-to-back nature of the killings has led to intensified scrutiny and concern over whether the victims may have been targeted.

The first incident involved Alexander Modvedze, a 47-year-old Israeli-American entrepreneur who was killed during a violent home invasion in Woodland Hills. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and confirmed by The JFeed, three suspects—identified as Georgian nationals Fata Kochiashvili, 38; Zaza Otarashvili, 46; and Besiki Khotsishvili, 52—broke into Modvedze’s home late at night. Once inside, they held him hostage for several hours and subjected him to a brutal assault that resulted in his death. The suspects reportedly fled the scene with valuables, prompting an urgent manhunt.

Thanks to collaboration between the LAPD and the FBI, authorities swiftly arrested all three suspects. The JFeed reports that Kochiashvili was apprehended in Van Nuys, while Otarashvili and Khotsishvili were found in Glendale. Each is currently being held on $2 million bail as investigations continue.

Modvedze had lived in Woodland Hills for more than 15 years and was widely respected in the Israeli-American community. Neighbors described him to The JFeed as “personable and friendly,” and said the incident shocked an otherwise quiet residential neighborhood. Residents also noted that they had observed suspicious individuals entering his property shortly before the attack, which authorities now believe may have been premeditated.

Just hours after Modvedze’s murder, tragedy struck again.

According to The JFeed, Manny Haidra, a prominent Israeli businessman and the brother of Lieutenant Gondar Moshe Haidra, director of Israel’s Nitzan Detention Center, was found dead in his Valley Village apartment on Riverside Drive. Concerned family members had requested a welfare check after Haidra stopped responding to messages and calls. When LAPD officers arrived, they found him unresponsive, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

At this stage, the cause of Haidra’s death remains undetermined, and The JFeed confirms that no suspects have been identified. However, the LAPD has stated that anyone involved in Haidra’s death should be considered armed and dangerous. The department is urging members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity related to the case.

As noted by The JFeed, the coincidence of two Israeli nationals being murdered in separate incidents within a single day has understandably raised community fears. Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of a connection between the two homicides, though, as of now, they emphasize that no concrete evidence links them.

Both cases have prompted increased police patrols in neighborhoods with high concentrations of Israeli and Jewish residents, as well as enhanced cooperation with federal agencies and community security organizations.

Community leaders, many of whom spoke anonymously to The JFeed, expressed sorrow and alarm over the murders. “This has shaken us deeply,” said one source close to both victims. “We need to ensure our families and neighborhoods are safe, and that justice is swiftly pursued.”

While investigations into both murders are still in their early stages, The JFeed reports that law enforcement is working tirelessly to piece together timelines, motives, and any potential overlap between the victims’ personal and professional lives. For now, police urge patience and vigilance as detectives continue to sift through evidence.

In the meantime, the Los Angeles Israeli-American community mourns the loss of two of its own—one a long-time Woodland Hills resident and entrepreneur, the other a well-known businessman with deep familial ties to Israel’s national security apparatus. As The JFeed poignantly noted, the tragedies serve as a stark reminder of how quickly violence can disrupt even the most tightly knit communities.
