Netanyahu Meets with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Amid Strong Signals of American-Israeli Unity

By:  Fern Sidman

In a meeting that highlighted deepening U.S.-Israeli ties amid ongoing regional conflict, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Sunday evening with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. The visit comes at a pivotal time for Israel, which continues its military campaign in Gaza and confronts growing international scrutiny.

Secretary Noem’s visit delivered a clear message of unwavering American support, with both symbolic gestures and policy affirmations signaling Washington’s continued alignment with Jerusalem. It also marked a milestone in diplomatic history, as Noem is set to become the first U.S. cabinet secretary to participate in official Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) commemorations, as noted by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who personally welcomed her upon arrival.

“Israel & God’s chosen people — We stand with you,” Noem wrote in a handwritten note at the Western Wall, shortly after landing. Her prayerful tribute at Judaism’s holiest site reinforced her vocal support for Israel’s right to self-defense and historical sovereignty over Jerusalem.

During her meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Secretary Noem praised Israel’s robust internal security measures, particularly Netanyahu’s longstanding policy of constructing a fortified fence along the Egyptian border to curb illegal infiltration and prevent the entry of terrorists and traffickers.

“Secretary Noem expressed great appreciation for the Prime Minister’s firm stance on national security, especially his strategic foresight in erecting the southern border fence,” a senior Israeli official stated.

The Egyptian border barrier, which was completed in stages over the past decade, has been credited with drastically reducing both illegal immigration and cross-border smuggling, while enhancing regional security cooperation. Noem reportedly called the project a model for other democracies facing complex border challenges.

The Secretary also voiced full support for Israel’s ongoing military operations, commending Netanyahu’s leadership during a war that continues to test Israel’s military, moral, and diplomatic resolve. The Gaza conflict—now in its eighth month—has drawn both condemnation and solidarity from the international community. Noem’s public backing of Israel’s right to eliminate Hamas’s infrastructure sent a strong signal of solidarity from the Trump administration’s security establishment.

“Your fight is our fight,” Ambassador Huckabee tweeted, echoing a message first voiced during Yom Yerushalayim events, and reinforced by Secretary Noem during her closed-door talks with Israeli leaders.

Secretary Noem’s visit is not solely celebratory. In a show of mourning and respect, she attended a memorial ceremony alongside Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to honor the memory of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, two Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., who were murdered last week in a tragic shooting attack in Washington, DC. The ceremony drew senior Israeli and American officials and reflected the emotional weight both nations bear in confronting threats to their diplomats and shared democratic values.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed the event, describing it as “a moment to grieve, but also to reaffirm the unbreakable bond between our two peoples.”

Noem’s participation in Jerusalem Day celebrations—marking the 58th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem during the 1967 Six Day War—adds significant weight to her visit. Her presence at national ceremonies is more than diplomatic theater; it signals that the U.S. continues to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital, a policy first enshrined by President Donald Trump’s embassy relocation in 2018.

The symbolism of an American cabinet official attending a national Israeli religious and historical holiday is profound, especially during a time of heightened regional instability and rising global anti-Israel sentiment.

While Israel faces fierce international criticism over its military strategy in Gaza, Secretary Noem’s visit demonstrates that among its closest allies, support for Israeli sovereignty, security, and resilience remains intact.

“In times of darkness, our allies shine brightest,” said one Israeli official. “And in Secretary Noem’s visit, Israel sees not just friendship—but faith, resolve, and partnership.”

As the flags of both nations fly above Jerusalem, this visit may well be remembered as a moment of reaffirmed alliance—rooted not only in mutual strategic interests, but in shared values of freedom, remembrance, and enduring loyalty.

  1. This story is a lie. “Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee in March that Iran “is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003.”

Trump is purging his government of Israel’s friends .

    • Today we hear from Al Jazeera, the propaganda terrorist portal of Sunni muslim terrorist Qatar, which has corrupted and owns Steve Witcoff, and effectively has corrupted President Trump, that they have betrayed Israel. They have prepared a draft “cease-fire deal” which has been sent to Israel’s government. I do not see that Israel has any viable friends remaining in Trump‘s government. I fear that Israel will have to focus on its military survival by militarily attacking and destroying or adequately degrading Iran’s nuclear weapons and delivery systems.

From now on, Israel will remain in “survival mode”. Having called up and fully deployed its military reserves, I think Israel’s remaining move is now to complete its operations in the field, and politically and military strike out on its own. I can only hope it has prepared a secret “doomsday” military plan to at least launch a unilateral attack on Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities, to save itself from otherwise inevitable destruction.

(Having been previously betrayed by virtually every American “Jewish “organization, and domestically betrayed by its own “deep state“ traitors, and the Democrats being Israel’s vicious enemy, Israel is barely surviving.) We have no friends “waiting in the wings”.

  2. Kristi Noem is playing the same role for Trump as Antony Blinken did for Biden: Political hatchet man. Israel’s security condition continues to worsen, since it is being forced into not doing military what it must in order to survive.

Having betrayed Israel, Trump has dramatically fired en masse his entire NSC staff!!

He is about to “announce” a fraudulent “cease-fire” or “peace “deal” to prevent Israel from destroying Hamas. Israel had better be prepared to act on its own, in opposition to Trump, to save itself and the Jewish people from annihilation.

    • It will be a terrible burden that the Prime Minister has to primarily bear alone, but Netanyahu will already be remembered in Jewish history as the man who stood in the breach.

  3. Trump is intent on quickly “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory” by preventing Israel from defeating Hamas!! His betrayal of Israelis is outrageous! With Israel’s entire reserves called up and deployed in Israel, he is trying to immediatelyforce Israel to withdraw from the field of battle and imminent victory.

WORSE, he is disastrously blackmailing Israel into a suicidal “peace deal”, literally preventing Israel from saving itself from Iran’s nuclear annihilation! It appears to me that Israel will be forced to act unilaterally to save itself from physical destruction.
