(i24NEWS) A majority of Yamina voters say they prefer a fifth ballot, over mixed ideology coalition
A poll cited by Channel 12 found that 61% of Yamina voters say they would no longer vote for Naftali Bennett’s party after his alliance with centrist and left-wing parties.
A majority of Yamina voters would also prefer a fifth ballot over the emerging Bennett-Lapid government, according to the poll.
By giving his support to Israel’s opposition leader on Sunday, right-wing figure Naftali Bennett paved the way for the formation of a “government of change” that could “bring down” Benjamin Netanyahu, the most enduring prime minister in the country’s history.
But nothing is yet final with two days left of Yair Lapid’s mandate to form a government.
There are still “a lot of obstacles” before a government can be formed, Lapid, a centrist at the head of the Israeli opposition, said Monday.
