(TJV NEWS) US President Donald Trump used a high-profile multilateral meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly to present his plan for ending the Gaza war, releasing remaining hostages, and rebuilding the Strip under non-Hamas governance, the Times of Israel reported Wednesday.

According to two Arab diplomats who were briefed on the discussions, Trump’s proposal drew on elements of a framework recently advanced by former British prime minister Tony Blair, which was also revealed last week by the Times of Israel. While Blair’s proposal focused largely on postwar management, Trump went further — laying out a pathway to ceasefire and hostage release.

The plan envisions a several-week truce during which all 48 remaining hostages would be freed, one Arab diplomat told the Times of Israel.

Ahead of the gathering, the eight participating countries — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan — submitted a position paper broadly welcoming Trump’s initiative, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The paper, as cited by the Times of Israel, emphasized four main points: supporting a comprehensive end to the Gaza conflict, prioritizing hostage return and humanitarian aid, committing to peaceful regional solutions based on Trump’s vision, and denouncing continued Israeli strikes — including a recent attack on Hamas operatives in Qatar.

At the same time, the document rejected an Israeli reoccupation of Gaza, the establishment of new settlements there, forced displacement of Palestinians, annexation of the West Bank, and changes to the status quo at Jerusalem holy sites.

“This is my most important meeting,” Trump told reporters before they were ushered out. “We want to end the war in Gaza. We’re going to end it. Maybe we can end it right now.”

Trump noted that “all of the big players except for Israel” were represented — a nod to his upcoming meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.

Seated at the main table with Trump were Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

According to the Times of Israel, Trump praised Subianto’s earlier speech at the General Assembly, in which the Indonesian leader stressed that any peace deal must guarantee Israel’s security.

Following the meeting, Trump waved to journalists without elaborating. His special envoy Steve Witkoff gave a thumbs-up when asked how the talks had gone.

Erdogan later described the session as “very fruitful,” adding that a joint declaration was expected. The UAE’s WAM news agency reported that the discussion prioritized ending the war, securing the release of hostages, and addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The White House is expected to issue a statement on the meeting once all participating countries approve the wording, the Times of Israel reported

  1. At this point, this is all hearsay from Israel government’s adversaries: “According to two Arab diplomats who were briefed on the discussions”, and, “According to the Times of Israel”.
