(TJV) The International Court of Justice in The Hague has directed Israel to take effective measures to prevent genocide. This decision follows a request from South Africa for interim actions to ensure that Israel is actively working to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza. The court specified that Israel must take steps to prevent and penalize calls and incitement against Palestinians in Gaza, provide humanitarian aid, avoid the destruction of evidence related to alleged genocide, and report back to the court within one month on the actions taken to uphold these requirements.

However, the court did not order Israel to halt its military operations in Gaza, as requested by South Africa, nor did it instruct Israel to relocate civilians to Northern Gaza. Some right-wing Members of the Knesset (MKs) expressed frustration with the court’s decision, citing Hamas’s recent attacks and the ongoing hostage situation involving the terrorist organization. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized the court’s decision, labeling it as antisemitic and accusing it of seeking to persecute the Jewish nation. MK Zvi Sukkot referred to The Hague court as the judicial arm of what he called “murderous antisemitism,” describing it as a circus of evil and hatred towards Jews.
