As crime and homelessness continue to plague NYC, the latest violent attack was perpetrated by a homeless man living in a tree.

A NY Post reporter was hit with a huge branch and a photographer was attacked with a trash bag filled with his belongings, according to cops and video.

The bizarre ordeal came a day after city officials issued a one-day “notice of clean up” for the section of the park where the man’s sky-high digs were located NY Post reported.

In recent days Mayor Adams has come out swinging against crime, at a morning prayer event the mayor recently exclaimed: , “There are wartime and peacetime generals. I’m a wartime general,” he said. “I’m going to be on the front line. Those of you in transit, I’m in the subway system at 2, 3 a.m. with you. I’m going to your precincts. I’m going to call you up when you make those arrests. “I’m not sending you to the front line and leaving you there. “I’m going to be at the front line with you. I’m going to lead you into battle.”

The Post reported:

The suspect, identified by cops as Rewell Altunaga, 44, was caught on camera climbing down from his tree perch and clambering up an embankment to go after the Post reporter just before 10 a.m.

He bashed the reporter, who was standing on the sidewalk, with a branch twice — landing one hit on the side of the victim’s head.

After 8 years of Mayor de Blasio’s guidance the city’s homeless services finances were apparently allocated improperly, and thousands of dangerous psychotics were released into the streets due to a gigantic NYC government, run in a dysfunctional manner. The new mayor of NYC, is left with a seemingly daunting task, of trying to restore a sense of normalcy and safety to the streets and subways of NYC

All through the de Blasio regime, for years the city overheard whispers of the first lady of NYC’s failed Thrive mental health social services program, and allegations of misappropriated and possibly lost funds of close to $1 billion.

Last February former NYC comptroller Scott Stringer, who at one time promised an investigation into the Thrive program run by de Blasio’s wife Charlene McCray, made some remarks about the disastrous homeless program.

“We’re spending $200 million a year on a mental health program, Thrive, with little accountability, with little data or outcomes to show progress,” Stringer said during a virtual budget briefing, in 2021.

“There’s a number of measures that experts will use to evaluate if the programs are working or not working,” Stringer said. “I will tell you this, that we can’t just say we’re throwing money at problems without seeing any kind of transparent numbers. As you know, that’s been one of the major critiques that I’ve had of the Thrive program.”

Stringer continued, “But, look, it’s now time to deconstruct a bureaucratic program and invest more directly with services, cut through the bureaucracy, get rid of 1-800 numbers.”
