It was supposed to be a show of unity for the city’s far-left faithful — a grand rally of “progressive solidarity.” Instead, it turned into a shouting match between rival shades of socialism. As the New York Post reported, Governor Kathy Hochul was relentlessly heckled by her own base Sunday night at the so-called “New York Is Not For Sale” rally in Queens, with the crowd chanting “Tax the rich!” until she could barely speak.

The event, packed into the 13,000-seat Forest Hills Stadium, was billed as a star-studded gathering of the Democratic Socialist wing of the party, featuring Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani — the candidate who believes higher taxes and more government are the cure for every problem. But as the New York Post noted, the spectacle quickly devolved into chaos, underscoring how fractured and unhinged the modern Left has become.

Hochul, who recently threw her tepid endorsement behind Mamdani despite previously denouncing his soak-the-rich agenda, was met with a torrent of boos the moment she stepped to the microphone. “Right now, our city and our state and our country are under attack by Donald Trump and Republicans,” she tried to shout over the noise — but the crowd of self-proclaimed “progressives” wasn’t buying it. Their answer: more chants, more rage, more proof that mob politics has replaced civil discourse.

“They’re literally taking a wrecking ball to our values,” Hochul proclaimed — though, as the New York Post dryly observed, she didn’t seem to notice that her own crowd was doing a fine job of that already.

The governor’s attempts to charm the restless audience went about as well as her last approval rating. “You want to see Zohran or not?” she barked, after repeatedly being drowned out. Even then, she managed to mispronounce his name — a moment of comic relief amid the ideological meltdown. One attendee wore a “Tax the Rich” dress in an apparent tribute to AOC’s Met Gala stunt, a perfect symbol of the champagne socialism on display.

After limping through her remarks and pleading with the crowd to channel their “passion” into the 2026 midterms, Hochul finally got a smattering of applause — perhaps out of pity. Mamdani, the night’s supposed headliner, was forced to rush onstage early to save the event from total embarrassment. As the New York Post reported, he hugged Hochul and raised her hand awkwardly in the air before escorting her offstage — a staged show of unity that fooled no one.

Ironically, Mamdani hasn’t even endorsed Hochul for reelection. During a recent debate with Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa, he bragged that he would decide “after the general election.” Translation: he’ll wait to see which way the political winds blow.

Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez followed with the usual greatest hits — railing against billionaires, capitalism, and “authoritarianism.” Sanders, who’s been giving the same speech since the Reagan era, urged the crowd not to get complacent. “Forget about the polls,” he cried. “Act like you’re five points behind!”

  1. Interesting: a Democrat Nazi rally!

David Ben Hooren and his TJV newspaper should NOW be printing OUTRAGED EDITORIALS against every “Jewish” organization and “rabbi” who refuses to PUBLICLY excoriate Mamdani and any “Jew” who does not aggressively publicly oppose him! You should have no concern whatsoever about alienating any of these evil ENEMIES of the Jewish people. If any of your readers don’t like it, tell them to GO TO HELL! You should be publicly identifying these antisemites! THIS is your crucial moment for personally standing up for the Jewish people Mr. Ben Hooren!
