Cristina Cuomo allegedly tried to leverage her family’s political clout to help The Surf Lodge — a high-end Montauk hotspot — preserve its liquor and music licenses amid state scrutiny, emails obtained by The Post reveal.

The lodge’s owner, Jayma Cardoso — a friend of Cristina and her husband, former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo — was in danger of losing her licenses in 2019 after violations flagged by the State Liquor Authority (SLA) and town officials. NY Post originally reported.

Cardoso, in messages at the time, expressed hope that Cristina could get Chris to convince his brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to “soften up” SLA Chairman Vincent Bradley — whom the governor had appointed.

“Hopefully Chris Cuomo can speak with w his brother to soften up the chairman. Finger crossed!!! Happy New Year!” Cardoso wrote to Cristina in a giddy 2019 New Year’s email. NY Post originally reported.

Cristina, the founder of wellness brand Purist and a fixture on the Hamptons social circuit, had previously held events at the venue. Her brother-in-law, Gov. Cuomo, also hosted a fundraiser there in 2018 during his reelection campaign. NY Post originally reported.

On Feb. 6, 2019, Cristina took it a step further, writing directly to Bradley to advocate for Cardoso.

“Dear Vincent, I hope you are well. By way of my husband Chris Cuomo, I got your email from my brother-in-law, Gov. Andrew Cuomo,” she wrote in a name-dropping letter. NY Post originally reported.

Cristina urged leniency on behalf of her “friend and fellow Brazilian” Cardoso, who faced “potential license revocation” due to overcrowding violations cited during Labor Day weekend.

According to the letter, the SLA had proposed eliminating live music at the venue as a condition for allowing it to retain its liquor license. Cristina detailed Cardoso’s plans to increase access points, bolster security, and cut back live music from seven nights to three — ending by 8 p.m. each night. NY Post originally reported.

“Jayma has brought Grammy Award winning live music and culture to the Hamptons community for 11 years,” Cristina wrote. “I cherish our family vacation time out East and the cultural outlets that make our enjoyment of the Hamptons all the more special.” She also included her phone number in case Bradley wanted to talk further. NY Post originally reported.

Ultimately, The Surf Lodge kept its license after agreeing to pay a $55,000 fine and limiting music to three nights a week, ending by 8 p.m.

But the influence play didn’t sit right with everyone. Republican state Sen. George Borrello, a restaurateur himself, slammed the letter. “This letter is trading on the Cuomo name. It’s obvious,” Borrello told The Post.

“Andrew Cuomo fancies himself as the ethics czar. This type of influence-peddling is certainly hypocritical for the Cuomo family”.

Cristina defended herself Sunday, insisting she was simply helping a friend.

“I wrote this as a member of the Hamptons community to help a friend,” she told The Post. “She was in jeopardy of losing her music license. I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Cardoso did not respond to a request for comment.

Andrew Cuomo, now the frontrunner in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor, denied involvement.

“We knew nothing about this situation and certainly took no action,” campaign spokesman Richard Azzopardi said. “But the fact this seven-year-old letter is getting shopped around weeks before Election Day shows just how desperate they are”
