NEW YORK, NY – Northwell’s Lenox Hill Hospital has received multiple specialty awards for excellence in care from Healthgrades, placing it among the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide for cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, gastroenterology and outpatient orthopedic services. The recognition reflects the hospital’s consistent record of superior patient outcomes, including significantly lower complication and mortality rates compared to national averages.
Lenox Hill earned more than a dozen honors for superior outcomes in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, including being the only hospital in New York State to receive America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care Award™ for 13 consecutive years (2014-2026). Additional awards in heart care include:

Top 5 in New York State for cardiac care;
Top 5 in New York State for cardiac surgery;
Top 5 in New York State for cardiology services;

In addition, Lenox Hill received recognition for orthopedic excellence, earning the Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award™ for outstanding patient and ranking among the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide in this specialty.

The facility also earned Five-Star distinctions for exceptional results across a wide range of procedures and treatments, underscoring its superior clinical performance. It received top marks for surgical excellence in coronary bypass, valve, cranial neurosurgery, upper GI, colorectal, and outpatient back and neck surgeries (excluding spinal fusion). Additionally, Lenox Hill achieved Five-Star ratings for outstanding outcomes in complex medical treatments, including coronary interventions, heart failure, stroke, COPD, GI bleeding, bowel obstruction, sepsis and respiratory failure.

Earning the America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery™ Award reflects significant benefits to patients. From 2022 to 2024, those treated at hospitals receiving the award had, on average, a 57.5 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*

Healthgrades’ 2026 analysis revealed that if all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to five-star hospitals during the 2022-2024 study period, on average, 230,466 lives could have been saved and 156,797 complications could have been avoided.*
